RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting my Tred-Pro traction mats

I'm looking for ideas on how to best mount these traction mats to the back location of my Hawk. I think these mounting pins might work but the thread length is only 1.5" and not sure that will be enough to make it into the back wall. Any ideas would be welcomed. (tried the roof and it's just too...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suspension on F150

I have the same truck, 2013 Ecoboost F150. Lots of power, you will not be starving for moving torque or hp. I don't have the Hawk on full time, so I opted for Firestone Airbags. E rated tires is a must. Have fun!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Watts law and solar controllers

You need to look at the detail specs of the controller. Usually, there is a solar panel current rating and a load rating. If you don't plan to connect your load via the controller and only through the battery, then you only need concern yourself with the panel current rating. Look at the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HQST 100W flex solar panels

I think with the air gap, you will get turbulence that will not allow the panel to survive over time. The vibration will break the internal solar cell connections and there are a lot of them.

Can anyone comment on how tough or easy this drive will be with a FWC Hawk on the back of a F150 FX4 (4x4)? I'm hoping to make this drive in early October.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium update

Thats a involved question. Basically, the first switch on the left is just connect/disconnect the solar panels to the controller. There are two inputs to the controller. The first input is dedicated to the solar panels. I'm using the second input for either the truck generator or the IOTA for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium update

That is correct. It is encouraged that the batteries be within the living quarters as most likely they will be in ambient temperatures. The batteries are most affected during charging and need to be above freezing. I live in SoCal and spend most of my time in the Southwest. When camping and with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium update

Thanks for the feedback Eric. Yes, Dacian did indicate the isolation diodes on the inputs. I'm using PV1 for the panels and PV2 is on a switch to allow using either my converter (IOTA), when AC is available or alternator. Like you, I'm finding the batteries are back up to 100% usually by noon so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

Actually, the Trimetric Monitor depends on a Shunt Resistor to accurately determine the current going in/out from the battery. If you want to use on different battery banks, that introduces a couple of problems. First, you need to be able to switch out the shunt resistor from one bank to another...

Orion. The 2nd fan added was just connected in parallel to the existing fan. I spliced into the positive and negative connection of the existing fan from the back of the Waeco. Kodachrome, the fan I added has a draw of 0.14 A. I could not read the speed or CFM. It is a Cooler Master from...

I haven't had any issues with battery temperature. Since most of our installations involve the battery being inside, the temperature variations have little effect on the battery charging.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium update

I've now have had the system installed with the new SBMS60 Lithium controller/Battery management system for about 2 mos. Took the rig out for a couple small trips. Generally the batteries will be around 75-80% of charge after a cool night. It depends if I have the heater on or not. I have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Dinette and Solar Charge Controler location

Installing the controller close to the battery would be a better choice. This reduces the distance from the battery and thus your losses due to the length of the run. Depending on the controller, most of the time you only get indicator lights and having the controller in a visible location may...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford 150 with greater payload

Cooter, can you tell me if there has been any mounting issues with the aluminum box? I'm thinking of moving to the 2017 model (from my 2013) next year. Was there anything special with the mount points in the box?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Phase 1 Complete

Nice truck Tim. Been looking at the Aluminum F150 since they came out. With the weight loss, you'll be fine with the payload package. I'm thinking to turning in my 2013 F150 for this one but will wait for the new 2017 F250 aluminum's and see what those will look like. Harv
