RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West how do you folks 'claim' a campsite' while you are off exploring during day

I carry a Eureka two-man tent in my ATC Bobcat. When I set it up campside, I've found that it signals occupation right away. I've never had an issue, but if someone stole it it wouldn't be the end of the world! I did have an issue once with a Camp Host at a USFS site, who apparently watched me...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Easy Roof Lift Device

Oooooh, I'm going to give this a try. I have Yakima bars and a cargo box on top. Of course, the cargo box is emptied when I lift the camper, but it will be interesting to see if the speaker stand pole can handle the extra weight. I'll try it and give an update, if anyone is interested.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Yakima crossbars on rear of All Terrain truck camper

Not sure how similar my situation is, but I had the boys at ATC install two sets of Yakima tracks - one toward the front, and more in the back - on my Bobcat when they built it. Since I have a Fantastic fan in the front, and a basic vent in the back, I had to work around these, as the each...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West IPhone Sunrises

I switched from iOS (iPhone) to Android (Google Pixel). The Pixel's camera is incredible, every bit as good as an iPhone. Not advocating one over the other - just saving you from the PITA of switching from iOS to Android (and vice versa). Here's a Nevada sunset I took a few days ago:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Got Some Torklift Derringers you dont use?

I've got a pair of these. Installed them anticipating using them on a used FWC, but the camper didn't fit my 2011 Tacoma. ended up buying an ATC, which negated the need for the TorkLift. But, I'm a lazy one, and never took them off. So they've been on the truck, but never used. PM me if you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ghost Town Tour

A campground right in a real ghost town? Silver City Idaho is an excellent choice, with plenty of BLM land also available for boondocking. But the dirt road there is usually closed off for the long winters. Over 6000' elevation, it's not on the way to anywhere...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ISO camper jacks northern CA

That's good advice, Kevin. I'm inclined to agree, after looking for used for the past year. Luckily, Marty and Jeff installed the brackets during the build, so all I need are the jacks. I'm gonna call them and get a price.

Two "summit meetings" this afternoon, Sunday, Mar 12 on CA89 between Mt. Shasta and Burney. I was northbound. Near Dead Horse Summit, a mirror image of my dark metallic grey Tacoma with an ATC or FWC, going southbound around 2:45pm. You were behind a truck, but I think you saw me. Near...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Big Sur HWY 1 Closed

From CalTran's QuickMap app, it appears that the Pfeiffer Cyn Bridge is closed for all of 2017. But the rest of it is expected to be open by March 20, which means that the Nacimiento Pass Road should provide "easy" access to Hwy 1 south of Pfeiffer. Northbound / Southbound 1 Full Closure At...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outdoor camping table? Suggestions/Recommendations?

I was searching for a table that wasn't wobbly. The one I found is reasonably lightweight, stores flat, and has telescoping legs for just the right height for what I need. I'm not sure where I bought this (Costco?), but it was a nice surprise when I discovered that, when flat, it fit perfectly...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's your favorite camp chair?

I've got both the cheap Director's chairs (comfy but bulky) and the Kermit (setup's not too bad, once you get the hang of it). I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm still in search of the 'perfect' picking and grinnin chair for guitar... one with no arms (sort of a Venus d'Milo chair ; )...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batwing Awning on an ATC?

Taku, I can order one from their site. I could remove/resell the Fiamma and install the BatWing pretty easy. I'm just surprised that the distributor has an exclusive deal with FWC, and no one else.

Bseek is spot on. Buy what you need as you need it, rather than what you think you'll need. Not sure where you live, drumwood, but take some little overniters and you'll find out right quick what your needs will be. Less is more!

Another shout out for ATC. I stopped by two days after Xmas to see about getting more Yakima track installed on my Bobcat. Not only were they open two days after a major holiday, but Jeff got me what I wanted installed and I was out of there in less than an hour. $40 out the door!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batwing Awning on an ATC?

I'm pretty impressed with the Batwing 270 Awnings that FWC is offering, so I called ATC and spoke with Marty about getting one installed on my Bobcat. Apparently, the US distributor, Equipt Expedition Outfitters, has an exclusive deal with FWC. I tried to call Equipt, and went straight to...
