Awesome to hear about people taking their kids out to experience the wonders of the world. Good on you!! Yes- Find the serial # & call FWC and they should be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Zealand and experience there

I was wrong about being in NZ 2 years ago - it was March of 2018. Spent virtually everyday tramping around. Pics from the Kepler Track - one of NZ's great walks. I'm inclined to say the Kepler is equal to the JMT with nowhere near the crowds. We used this guidebook for many of our hiking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Zealand and experience there

I was there 2 years ago. Flew to Auckland and immediately on to Nelson ( South Island). I couldn't get a handle on how to rent/cost of a small camper so ended up renting a small all-wheel drive suv. The whole trip was devoted to the South Island. Highlights: spent a few days hiking and kayaking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tips for driving Highway 50 across Nevada in July?

Hwy 50 across Nevada is remote but shouldn't be a problem if you have a reliable car. As Nevaska says - be sure to gas up whenever possible as the towns are a couple of hours apart. One of my favorite places to eat is at Middlegate Station near Fallon. I have my InReach with me all of the time -...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ice box vs 3-way fridge?

I replaced my 3 way when it stopped working with a TruckFridge. I really like it and I've run it for 4 days in 98* temps off my 100 AH battery. Here's how I installed it:

So glad that your wonderful TR's continue. I was camping the same area in mid-May. Lots of wind and rain and just hunkering down. I too noticed the #'d campsites along the river and couldn't help but think that things will never be better than they are now.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Your Input is NEEDED NOW!

You're right on about "use it or lose it". It's an easy excuse to say people don't care about public lands that are infrequently visited and therefore taken away for commercial exploitation. Despite the problems that come with the building of roads, visitor centers, campsites, trails, etc could...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Which used FWCs fit 2nd Gen Tundras?

Most folks go with a "Hawk". To my knowledge the footprint hasn't changed over the years, so the length and width isn't an issue. What can be different is despite the model year, Hawks are built to clear the higher bed rails or cabs of various trucks. When you see an ad for a used Hawk, ask the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New ATC shell build

Thanks for the info- I ended up ordering an ATC Panther shell and I've been collecting ideas for my build. On my prior FWC I converted the rollover couch to side dinette and a local detail shop modified the cushions for me. I'll be using my new shell a few times to get a feel for how I'll want...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Sizing

The width and length of the bed shouldn't matter. What is different is the height of the bed between different manufacturers. I recently ordered a Panther shell for my '19 Tundra and Marty at ATC measured the height of the bed. He said that Ford and Toyota always seem to copy each other on their...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plug options for new TruckFridge

TruckFridge has been great. I usually have to re-adjust the temp setting once or twice on a trip depending on the ambient temps. You may want to look at Powerwerx/Anderson connectors as Roverjohn has suggested. Yes to being neighbors - I'm 10 miles south of town off Dog Bar Road!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plug options for new TruckFridge

Based on previous info I read on these forums I cut the cigarette plug off and hard wired the power cord on my TF. This eliminates possible current fluctuations powering your TruckFridge. I'm sure other folks can give you a technical explanation for it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why did you choose ATC over FWC

Over the past 10-12 years I've had my Hawk worked on by both ATC and FWC and both do excellent work, but I've found ATC to be more reasonable on costs and their turn around time much faster. 2 years ago I decided I wanted to buy a new camper and visited both factories. FWC makes a great camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Now the fun begins my new 78" Ocelot shell

Awesome build - love how you framed the passenger window with the cabinets. Looks like you didn't go with the slide out bed. Does the sink drain into a container or out the side of the camper? Enjoy the camper!!
