Another thing to really getting your windshield clean is to use grade#0000 steel wool to clean it. 0000 won't scratch and it removes just about everything. Then apply rain-x.

I've tried a number of wipers including rain-x and none of them really stand out. Original rain-x is good product though a bit of a pita to apply.

The possibility of drawing too much current through the shunt. Making it act like a fuse. Maybe I worry too much.

I bypassed the shunt on mine. I figure with the rare times I run the inverter it won't screw me up that much. Hopefully.
