RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Could Someone Give me Advice for a First Time Camper Exploring the Western U.S?

While Yosemite might be crowded its definitely worth a visit. As for wildlife there are some issues. Bears, Raccoons etc, can be problematic not so much for personal safety but they'll cause a lot of damage looking for food. Keeping a clean odor free camp is paramount. Knowing more about your...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 ply. Tire Recommendations

I think there is but then again I'm no engineer. I did lean towards the BFG Ko3 and the Falken aw4 precisely because they are newly upgraded designs. I got the BFG's installed today. I was down to 6mm on the front and 4 on the rear. Okay enough for summer use but with the rainy season coming up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 ply. Tire Recommendations

All the reviews I can find talk about winter use. Since I do a minimum of snow travel thats not a priority for me. I'm more interested in having a tough sidewall. The other thing that drives me crazy is I rarely see reviews from people driving a heavy diesel truck like mine :(

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10 ply. Tire Recommendations

I need new tires before the rainy season. I'm down to the BFG AT3 and the Wildpeak AT4. Price and weight are nearly the same in the size I'm looking at. Really close call.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ooops

I wish I had a pic of Riley. He was in an unusual spot. It was the dog, me and Jeep third. Trying to push a 75.lb dog out of a Jeep was a bitch. Probably should have left him at home. Speaking of pilots, I saw a recent one of Blancolirios where it seems the pilot might have been okay if he just...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ooops

Ran the Rubicon this weekend in the TJ. It was rough. We'd been on the trail for six hours near Bucks Lake when my concentration failed me for a moment. I was more concerned about the dog than anything else. PITA to get him out but he was unhurt. My crew (three rigs on our run) quickly got the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Meteorological Fall Starts Today

We have a new fire going in Sierra County. The media refers to it as near Sierra Brooks. I had to google earth it. Its a suburb of Loyalton. You'd think they could mention that.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West do you keep/store anything in camper between uses

If I had to I could just take off. Food, clothes etc, are on board. I much prefer to not rely on my emergency supplies. Mostly load up clothes and food and I'm good to go. That's for an overnighter or weekender. I'd want to pack much better for a longer trip.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel Heater in Your Camper?

If I were to consider one I'd probably go with the portable unit. So far my twenty year old Suburban furnace shows no signs of giving it up.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F350 scissor jack

Bottle jack is far safer but depending on terrain you may not be able to use it. A hi lift will almost always work. Just remember it can be deadly if used improperly. I had a blowout offroad. I tried to use the bottle jack but couldn't fit it under the truck. Had to use the hi lift to get the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New old Four wheel camper questions

If you don't reinstall the trim make sure you repaint frequently. Unless they deleted them you should have eyelets mounted on the camper. You'll want to reinforce those inside and out. I had to cover my own siding with some thin (.025?) diamond plate. A lot easier than painting once a year.
