RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heater

I have the Atwood 1200 BTU heater. It's great, liking having a camp fire. I crank it up at night before going to bed and in the morning before getting up. Hell, I've camped on Denali at -20F. At night I turn it off and sleep in my bag, normally a 32 deg mountain hardware phantom. I also have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another table design

Hay, it's just like my table but improvement. My table mounts to the top rail of the sliding door, but is a little high. You added two right angle braces so you can lower the table to a normal hight. A little more work but it looks good. So maybe it time to do some modifications. Great job...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West fastguns

You know, this year I drove 31000 miles with my 2002 Tundra 4.7L V6 4x4 AC 5 speed manual. From Dallas to every western state in the US including BC and AK, (excluding ND), over some of the 4 star 4x4 roads to the trail heads of 14'ers in CO, and bouncing across dirt roads and the ALCAN...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West "Stealth Camping" in the East with a Pop-Top?

After a while you get a little more daring. If there are no "no parking" or "no camping signs", hang out until it's late leave early no problem. Go get late night dinner at a bar and ask around, the best advice I got is "You can stay at the ball park, no one will bother you there and they...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about traveling and camping at low temperatures.

Thanks, I probably get some type of chains. Wonder if they work in sand? I have a stainless steel vacuum 65 oz growler. I guess that would work for coffee in the morning, but I'm a late starter and like to fix my main meal breakfast and at the same time heat up the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about traveling and camping at low temperatures.

OK looking at the Honeywell TH1100DV1000/U. It has a garage mode that goes down to 35F. Does anyone have any suggestion or comments about tire chains. Back in day I had a 1956 Willies Overlander. We would put chains on all 4 tires and drive around in the mountains of NM. I'm thinking I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about traveling and camping at low temperatures.

Ya but I'm looking for a practical approach. The stock thermostats low temp is somewhere in the 40's and using a generator is too complicated. The propane heater, like the propane refrigerator, works good and is very efficient, except for the heat loss from the soft top. Then there is the water...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about traveling and camping at low temperatures.

Does anyone have experience to relate about traveling in low temperatures. I'm thinking about driving to Alaska over the Alcan highway in October. The highs and lows are somewhere between 45F and 20F outside. I have a standard ATC with water tank and heater and a 0F degree sleeping bag...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More thoughts on adding solar power

Check out the scratches on my fantastic fan vent cover in the roof picture. The roof in the Ted Stevens Anchorage airport parking garage is a little over 7ft. I cleared the most places but some how got lost trying to find the exit. The fan cover was about 1.5" short, it just flexed down but...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More thoughts on adding solar power

I bought two KINGSOLAR 50W (100 W total) Semi Flexible Solar Panel and connected them in series with a Viltron Energy Blue Solar MPPT smart charger controller and their MPPT Control/Monitor. The total cost was about $400. I made a frame out of 1/8" x 1" aluminum to match the mounting holes of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Climbing 14er's in Colorado

We climbed San Lewis, Handies, Redcloud with Sunshine, the Wetterhorn and Uncompahgre. Which completes all the San Juan's for me. I've finished the Elk's and all but Culebra in the Sangre de Cristo's. We went to Antero but there were too many people and ATRs and the road was blocked by a...

Really nice photos. How are you able to post them and at what resolution? It seems to me that the limit is 500k per post. Nice photos, what kind of lens are you using for the wide angle shots?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Full queen size on and ATC

I have an ATC Ocelot and I love it. I've had it for a little less than a year and already put more than 15000 miles of traveling. Before I had a Palomino Bronco and it had a full size queen bed. I drive a 2002 Tundra AC. The Palomino had a 60" wide overhead bed extending the full length of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HQST 100W flex solar panels

Here is a crude drawing of the first frame I made for just one solar panel. It shows the solar panel in yellow on the bottom in order to see the frame in gray ( The panel in reality mounts on top of the frame). When I added two panels, I remade it longer with more cross members every foot.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reflectix insulation

Has anyone used Reflectix to reduce heat in the summer. I noticed that when the sun shines on the sidewalls you can feel a lot of radiating heat. I would think the foil layer would help a lot.
