Here's a couple of links that might provide a little help - http://wildowyhee.org/getting-there http://onda.org/where-we-work/owyhee For a good introduction to the area I would reccomend: Leslie Gulch Honeycombs Birch Creek Ranch Three Forks Anderson Crossing

Thanks - WS and LH. So many cool images posted on this thread, figured I better get back in the mix. Those lost Owyhee'ans are probably still wandering around out there. Some of these places feel pretty untouched by time/man for sure.

This appears to be the year for a "nose to the grindstone" lifestyle. Between our construction work and my personal remodel/rennovation, it seems fun trips are few and far between. I'm living vicariously from previous journeys at the moment so started catching up on processing some images from...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Celebrate the Summer Solstice!

Good buddy and I took beers, smokes, cameras and flyfishing gear into a rugged canyon on the Middle Deschutes River here in Central Oregon. Stayed out way late watching the long, lingering sunset along with one of the most active displays of Nighthawk acrobatics i've seen in a long time. Fish...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire pressure on dirt roads

I had to use both my spares on roads similar to this one, Wandering Sagebrush. This was over near Leslie Gulch a number of years back. I figured the local tire repair/garage had a buddy on the road maintenence crew.

I have a Vello intervalometer that was much less in $$$ than the dedicated Nikon one. They also offer many other options for time delays, etc than just continous shooting. For ex - a few summers back I set my up to start a time-lapse sequence about 2 hours after I went to bed and the moon had...

I think once you get the basic settings figured out, the secret is to just take lots and lots of captures. The clouds were moving very fast so every frame was different. Best to just sort them all out later on and zoom in on the best for composition and maybe if you are lucky a couple of meteors...

Yep, it was a bust. Nevertheless always fun to get out and wander (read - stumble) about in the desert wilderness near home. Badlands Wilderness near Bend offers great opportunities for framing the stars around ancient and gnarly old junipers. The bonus was spotlighting all the cool wildflowers...

Much appreciate the plug for the Wild Desert Calendar MarkBC. I'm a bit swamped this year so getting the word out for possible contributors is might fine assistance. Hoping I can be out in a special wild desert location for this show. Maybe out in the John Day River country. Plenty dark out...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vernal Equinox 2014 - Springtime!

My personal indicator of Spring - Sprunging. I picked up 3 ticks yesterday while out photo-ing in a local canyon. Balsamroot and Serviceberry blooming also for confirmation.

Those glowing tulips got me inspired. My cacti flower pot on my south facing porch just started to go off day before yesterday. Some friends who have a native plants nursery here in Bend gave this to me as present a year or two back. Has a Cholla, Prickly Pear and one Hedgehog. Pediocactus...

Lighthawk - This is already cropped a little bit. The combination of my older 10 MP sensor and really a not very sharp lens makes any cropping/zooming look pretty soft. I dumped this older 24-85 lens from my film days for a new 16-85 VR version that was really perfect for my DX Nikons.

I'll jump in here, so to speak. Abert Rim Bighorn from a few years back. This ram came walking up behind us as we hiked the edge of the rim. Wind coming from his direction so I think he was completely baffled as to what we were up to. I dropped to the ground below line of sight and changed to...

Both pix from my previous two post are in SE Oregon sections of the Owyhee Canyonlands. Idaho and Nevada both have really rugged and inaccessible Owyhee canyon country also. A lifetime or two of trips for sure. Some really nice shots in this thread. Can't believe I've never been to the Alabama...

ski3pin - On this trip I was involved with some wilderness inventory work in the Owyhee Canyonlands. This pic taken on the return trip is just across the street, with the street being Hwy 95. Roads in the Owyhee country can be pretty sketchy but with the drought winters over the past couple of...

Cheers- Glad people like this shot. I was pretty psyched when I saw these images popping up on my camera's display to say the least, even though initially I had concern the super bright full moon was washing out the stars. In retrospect the added light really helped to balance the exposure in...

Great to see the variety of images from fellow WTW'rs, it's very inspiring so thought I would jump into the mix. I have been slowly (very, very slowly) working through to edit my images from 2013. Here is one that really could be my personal favorite from this past year. I have been trying to...
