RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why I like the Intermountain West / Great Basin

Nice to see that huge, roughly triangle shaped block of darkness out in the SE Oregon/NW Nevada.... :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Year-End/New-Year Trip to Far-Eastern Nevada

Sounds of gears grinding slowly in Craggy Man's cranium.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tucson AZ in Early February

Have only visited the Tucson area once but a close by hit is Madera Canyon/Mt. Wrightson Wilderness. Less than an hour from Tucson, south towards Mexico. Great little campground with some lovely mountain and canyon hikes, feels much more remote than it actually is for sure.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Frame to lift camper. . .

I have an older camper (85 Palomino) on a newer Tacoma also. I needed an additional 1"+ of height to just clear my cab roof. Since I take my camper on and off frequently I went for a sheet of 1 1/8" plywood cut to closely follow the shape of the bed so it moves very little. I also worried about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thanksgiving Day Feast While Camping?

Nobody would know me anyway. Way too much hair and very underweight compared to now. I'm sure the Kentuckian's thought we were crazy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thanksgiving Day Feast While Camping?

Wow, those are some way young Craggy pix. I know we were a little bent back in those days but I'm looking really blurry........ ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Older Camper - Fabric repairs

Thanks for the info. At this point in the year it is a chore I can put off till spring and let the duct tape repairs work through another winter. ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Volcanic Tablelands - A Birthday Trip

Really sad, hoping it was not the Sky Rock site??

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Year-End/New-Year Trip to Far-Eastern Nevada

"Clan of the fire moochers" sounds about right... ;) but in all fairness MarkBC has held my hand as I struggle along with the digital world for many years now. So, maybe sharing a campfire is not too drastic for repayment.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Year-End/New-Year Trip to Far-Eastern Nevada

I'll throw my hat in the ring on this. Keep me in the loop on plans, I've recently picked up a firewood carrier for winter outings. B)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Announcing the 2013 TCM Calendar Contest Winners

I'm one for three. Not bad in baseball but once again my dreams of glory were shattered. :(

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West East Sierra Fall Colors

Nice shots Lighthawk. Those dusk shots looking out of Mono Lake are really sweet. I think I could see the 3rd Pillar of Dana peeking out above the middle distance in your Dana plateau shot. Been on my list for years also. Cheers - Craggy

Nice TR MBC. And I really like that last Pano, you caught some great light! Looking forward to more installments.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Older Camper - Fabric repairs

Yea, some of us "others" are out there. So, I will start this off with a question for fellow Palomino owners or just owners of older pop-top campers in general. How do you repair the old vinyl windows/screening? And YES I already am a strong advocate of Duct tape :) but hoping for a more elegant...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Which foam insulation under mattress?

The foil faced foam board has always seemed superior to me for insulation/reflective properties. If you put a thin piece of tempered masonite board over the foam (maybe 1/4"), should do the trick for spreading "point loads"... ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Calendar Photo Contest

As mentioned above, there is only about 2 weeks left to enter the TCM 2013 Calendar contest. ski3pin has posted a link. I just entered a couple of evening pix including this one that I posted on WTW a few months back. I scored a win in 2012, there is a link on there site to the 2012 images, I'm...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

Thanks for the heads up on Bridgeport gas prices. I sent the pic along to some friends that are heading north from Yosemite tomorrow. Their response was also that they will make sure Minden/Gardnerville is their fuel up point. Cheers-

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dual Solar Panels, in Series, Tilt-able

Just my usual paranoia of hand tightened mechanical connections but I would definitely be rechecking the 4 attachment points quite frequently once you start going off road. Hate to see those nice Chinese panels go sailing. My $.02 and thanks again for the website updates. Cheers - Craggy

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eastern Sierra Fall Foliage Forecast?

A number of photographers that I follow on both Facebook and Google+ are showing some images already with significant color change. Poke around on the web and you should find some recent pix, remember the internet is the source of all knowledge.... I think your timing should be just...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Labor day weekend trip to the White mountains and more

Thanks for the memory jog on Silver Creek Canyon. One of my all time favorite drives. Decided this would be a short cut back to Bishop so we could make it to the bar for the Yankees vs Hawks World Series game (95-96??). Wild drive listening to the game on the radio, sipping beers and then...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Astro Thread

At last count I'm figuring about 14 days spent bivouac-ing in Yosemite on a number of big walls. From my firsthand experience the stars move awfully dang slow compared to this cool video... And I think the slowness of movement is proportional to the discomfort of the bivvy... I am also...
