Steve - This looks like an interesting area that I'm not familiar. What part of the Ochocos were you in? Maybe on east end by Bridge Creek?

Wow!! Nice work on all, Mr Kodachrome. Love the long exposure and the Black Canyon is superb.

Good idea using the engineered wood. I should upgrade also with the next projects scraps. Cheers-

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you use to level your truck camper

I'd say that 90% of my campsites require some sort of leveling. From years of rock and alpine climbing/backpacking I like to have tools/equipment that serve multiple purposes. Still go with a selection of 2x wood scraps of varying lengths/widths. I can use them to get unstuck if the occasion...

Wow! That's a lot of snow. I'm already getting psyched for spring greenery and flowers in the desert. Nice capture.

Thanks all - I just need to take a deep breath and accept it as a nice leading line, it works off the rock outcrop on the left side of the frame.

Thanks - ski3pin and WS. This shot has always been a favorite of mine except for the dispersing contrail which I guess could be cloned out by someone with better Photoshop skills than I possess. There were a small herd of antelope at the lake in the background that don't really show up in this...

Great use of the B/W to highlight the designs. Handprints are a favorite for sure, I think this type of pictograph is pretty rare here in the Oregon. Your pic reminded me of an area near Lake Abert I love to explore. It took me at least 3 trips to find this site and the roads are some of the...

A quick trip out to John Day River country over the weekend. It was good to get out as the holiday cheer was taking its toll. Not quite what I had in mind when we arrived at midday, snow was not much below the summit ridge on Sutton Mountain and not a cloud to be seen. Still the low angle of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lightroom Newbie

I have to admit my Lightroom organization is less than ideal but early on decided to set main folders by camera. I then do sub-folders by year and/or trip location/year. I now have 3 main folders set by my Nikon D200 - D7000 - D600 progression and also main folders for various pt/sht rigs I drag...

Shows up in the EXIF info when I open the jpeg on my computer but doesn't seem to be easily found when I transferred the image to WTW. My daughter's pt/sht has the built in GPS feature which actually worked better in the canyon hiking than my buddy's SPOT.

Thanks all - Just a FYI about this image. If you can figure it out there is a gps location embedded that should open in Google Earth. I can get my file on my computer to work just fine. Not sure about the WTW version.

I think my buddy Tyson was a bit more brazen than I and I found myself warning him to stay back a bit more. And I'm sure this beauty eventually tired of his shenanigans. I was glad to have the zoom range of the point and shoot but wish I had grabbed the big rig. This is still a bit of a crop...

A never ending parade of spectacular captures on this thread. ski3pin got me inspired with his great rattlesnake shot. Found this lovely specimen hanging out on top of the rim as climbed out of the Owyhee canyons on a backpacking trip in 2013. He/she seemed willing to put up for awhile (couple...

Great area and so easy to access. Been hitting up Mill Creek Canyon and Wildcat CG for years. Excellent shakedown cruise.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West First Trip/Maiden Voyage - Where was it?

After years of perusing Craigslist and checking out MBC's acquisitions, I finally made the move on a CL gem in the fall of 2010. A couple of miserable winter trips over the past few years had made this seem like the appropriate move. First trip coincided with my annual New Years pilgrimage to...

Great take on the Painted Hills. I have to admit I've grown numb to the classic views. Love the overlapping curves! I second the idea that this would make a great print.

My Palomino makes a surprise appearance in the Reno newspaper. Just finished a week of photography and support for a group of hikers bringing attention to the migration/connection corridor between the Hart Mtn and Charles Sheldon Wildlife Refuges. We had a journalist from the Reno paper for the...

Memorial Day weekend out at Hart Mtn Antelope Refuge. Ran across a few surly bucks with lots of attitude. Of course I neglected to put on my longer tele as we were driving off to go hiking. This is with my 24-120 at full zoom and a fair bit of cropping.

Very timely. I was thinking of renting this lens in about a week for upcoming desert photography trip. I am following a group of hikers in the Hart Mtn - Sheldon Refuge connection landscape for about 6 days/nights. Figured this area has some of the darkest skies in the lower 48 and would be...
