Saline Valley Warm Springs Management Plan EIS

If you want to keep that ability to explore on your own in those places special to you, as I mentioned in my earlier post it is in your best interest to make your opinion heard when the opportunity presents itself and/or support those organizations that share your view. Smokecreek covered it in...

Who lives out of their camper?

<p>I'll not repeat pros and cons already stated.&nbsp; In my experience they are all valid points.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Here's what I learned from fulltime living in my RV's of the time off and on over the course of a few years.&nbsp; The RV's were a 68 Caveman Camper, 8ft with a queen sized...

    Work Boots

For you fans of mink oil, consider this: https://www.obenaufs.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=4 I used to use mink oil or Hubbards grease or the Red Wing oil or whatever the feed and seed store had. IMO your boots will last longer using the above. I use it on...

Converting manual vent to fan-tastic (upgrade or complete replacement)?

Thank you for replying. It's a change I'd like to do, especially to get more natural light. Maybe while I'm redoing my pop up liner. Take care...

Double bed to queen modification on older 4wheel

Several years ago someone on here posted their rebuild of a fixer upper. I don't remember the specific model. They basically pulled back the top inside paneling/trim on the side walls to confirm that there was structure to attach to and then built hardwood slides to make an extended slide out...

    New owner - Hydraulic questions

Wild, while I own an FWC I have had friends, or as referenced by my wife, "Cohorts in Crime" with Alaskans and as a child my Grandfather had one. From what I remember of those that used individual flow control they attached them at the pump via a common manifold. What I don't remember is if...

2006 Tundra and Palomino Bronco 600 - Tie down solutions

Before my FWC I used those with my old Caveman, a hardsided camper. The Brophy's were popular in the 70's and early 80's. I actually used 3 a side, one up front and two rear, one each side of the campers eye bolt. They worked quite well actually. Like Stan mentioned above avoid the stake...

    Where to go!

Just came back from a few days on the North Oregon Coast with the fam before my sons returned to college. Weather currently along the whole coast is very un-winter like and in fact Astoria Oregon, the farthest north in Oregon you can go and where the Columbia River meets the ocean had several...

    Viewpoints on Campground Etiquitte

While browsing another forum I came across the following topic: http://www.popupportal.com/index.php?topic=76086.0 It started with this piece on Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2013/08/15/7-things-not-to-do-at-campground/ The topic motivated comment/discussion/rant for 6 pages at...

Best Full Size Truck For Ruff Country Travel (W/ A Pop Up Camper)

That's the sad thing. Stuff that should come stock on a 4x4 you gotta either buy a "package", order special from OEM or do an add on "mod". Went through the same thing years ago with my Ranger pickup.

Bomber crash site in Northern Nevada

If you can find an old BLM recreation map or USGS planimetric map it shows the area as "propeller meadows". I'm guessing this is the same crash. If not there is another crash there.

lookn at a dodge 2500 sd hemi, manual 4x4

An ok place to get an idea what a certain brand/model vehicle is doing milage wise and city/highway percent usage is here: http://www.fuelly.com/car/ IMO, unless your theoretical diesel is mostly dedicated to camper hauling/tripping or you don't have another regular need for the power/capacity...

    Ultimate Furnace Thread

My posting is a bit late. If anyone is still interested: I note in the post that the hose length is stated as 3ft. If these units are anything like the new Propex units. Both the exhaust and intake hoses are long and can not be cut down to fit in a small space or they malfunction. Don't know...

    Portable Tire Compressors

I've got a Slime cigarette lighter powered one too. Have had it for years actually. If you're trying to get all 4 back to 50-60+ PSI you probably want to consider something else but like 4llamas said I'd try it first. Actually it's a pretty good unit for what it is and I've used it a lot on...

    Best month to wander?

I'll weigh in: As Mr. Harr mentioned, It kinda depends on what you want to do/see. A lot of the "High Country" stuff typically isn't available till late June to the first of July. I will say that most of the Fed managed attractions in my area where demand warrents like Crater Lake or the...

    Has anyone tried this?

I guess part of the question is size make up of the five in question. If it's 2 adults and 3 little children then it's a possibility for awhile, unpacking and repacking to move not withstanding. If it's you and 3 active teenagers with stuff then I'd think hard about if this the route for you...
