Back To The Spark Plug Mine

I personally look forward to the remainder of a story that starts, "would you bail us out of jail?" Good blog job on the story so far and looking forward to the rest!

ID-MT-WY?: Desert Rat Venturing Outside His Comfort Zone Seeks Input

Your target area all varies from "very cool" to "outright spectacular". You would need a full summer to take it all in. I just came across Yellowstone NP exiting at West Yellowstone Mt. and driving south down through Dubois and Island Park Id. Spring is coming on over there and looking at the...

    Removing Oxidation w/Scotch Brite?

NOOOOOOO on using Armorall. You want 303 Aerospace Protectant. The following are a couple of several posts on pop up care: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/7298-best-protectant-for-pop-up-soft-side/?hl=aerospace#entry80701...

    Current Spike in Gas Prices

We are either the top petroleum producer or near it depending on who's data is used to the point of being a net exporter of product. Yet we still pay a near record gas/diesel price. I say the people revolt and take up popping up and building campfires on the National Mall until we get an...

    Modified Jacks

What you are describing and illustrate with the Coachman photo are the old Rieco Tripod jacks. If you want to do something similar I'd suggest taking your photo and a Rieco brochure, (http://riecotitan.com/flyers/tripodflyer.pdf) to a good metal fab shop. I'd get four new custom swivel...

    Granby Broken door

Depending on where you go, (FWC or ATC) the door and frame runs $275 to $295 from what I remember. The good thing sort of is that gets you a screen door also if you don't have one. Don't feel too bad as you were out at least. I forgot to put the jack stand under my Grandby storage trailer...

    Anyone With "Drymesh" Experience?

Another product along the same line: http://www.hyperventmarine.com/ A little discussion about it in use with an RTT mattress, the mention is toward the bottom: https://sites.google.com/site/bltoffroad/system/app/pages/search?scope=search-site&q=mattress Best of luck with your condensation...

    'New' 1977 FWC Granby?

Welcome to the group. There are people on here with older units though not as often. I guess I should mention mine's an 88 Grandby so it's older too and much like yours in the photo. I look forward to seeing your renovation. Good luck...

    Grandby vs Keystone

I'm not an expert, but I too own a Grandby and when I was in the market if I could have found a good used Keystone I would have bought it. There really isn't enough of an overhang to complicate anything and a foot or so more floor space makes a lot of difference IMO. I had a camping partner...

North Cascades Natl Park visit - 2013

Thanks for posting your video. It is a fine use of the medium. I always enjoy someone posting about the North Cascades as I lived and worked there in the 1980's. Nice to see it again. Again, thank you....

    storage racks

Personally no as I have an equipped Grandby. Over the years though photos of a few shells with rack systems have shown up in the FWC for sale section so it is not unheard of. Of those I've seen, IIRC have all been built not bought. Best of luck with your storage...

    Old Hawk floor repair

http://www.rotdoctor.com/products/cpes.html They have a bunch of other products for epoxy and fiberglass work too. Their website is worth a look overall. Like rayct77 wrote, the stuff's not cheap.

    Beach Camping

If you mean flat out beach boondocking. I can only only speak generally for parts of Washington and Oregon as I have not been to all of it and IMO even the less than stellar parts are still pretty darn good. In Washington, at least south of Puget Sound, maybe north too, never tried, the beach...

    Wander-er's Kitchen

One locally acquired stick. Whittled clean to roast stuff over the fire with. Everything after that is for contingency. One old fashioned "Granite" coffee pot -w- percolator. One steel fire grate salvaged from a derelict Coleman stove. One Weber "Go Anywhere" compact grill for those times...

    Pulled the Trigger on Hawk

Krylon makes a paint for about any surface material anymore. Even the soon to be moldy metal of Western Oregon ;) If it's silver or nothing, I had good luck with the Carefree of Colorado awning I had on my motorhome of days past. Came in matte finish silver on mine. It may be worth a look...
