storage racks

I picked up an Eagle shell late last year and am now in the process of fitting it out.

Having been life long tenters, we spend most of our time outside when camping. Currently all our stuff is in bins.

Rather than stack up and strap down the bins, has anyone put a rack system in their camper to hold the bins?

Thanks

Personally no as I have an equipped Grandby. Over the years though photos of a few shells with rack systems have shown up in the FWC for sale section so it is not unheard of. Of those I've seen, IIRC have all been built not bought.

Best of luck with your storage...

By rack system do you mean roof rack? You could do something like this and stack bins off an elevated rack like I have (custom made stinger that lifts the rack up higher) but it makes it difficult to make entry into the camper during your trip. I wouldn't want to stack bins too high on a roof rack. It would really affect your mpg and be a PITA to get pack and unpack.

Sorry about the pic being so dark.

Looking at LuckyDan's response I realized you are probably talking about indoor racks. I saw a camper one time, granted it was not the most professionally done, but it had something like this installed. Could work if it was done properly.

Yeah - this is kinda the idea I'm tossing around

Back when I was looking for an FWC an owner offered me an impromptu tour of his HAWK Shell. He had put rubber matting on the floor. He fastened those white plastic drawer bins that you see at Home Depot to the drivers side wall. He stacked them on top of each other. It was pretty slick.

HI,

I did the same thing as you. I was also a long time tenter and didn't want to have a lot of amenities inside the camper when I bought my Eagle shell. I built the inside of my camper myself. BUT, I did build cabinets and put in a stove and sink. That's it. No refrigerator, no water pump, no water heater, etc. Lots of storage space. I love it.
