    Incident at Battle Creek!

I don't even own a tow strap, which I know is a mistake. I've been meaning to get one for at least a year, but when I look at them I'm not sure which to buy. Well, I and many other folks use "tow stap" and "recovery strap" interchangably.....but they are different. A tow stap has hooks on...

    Incident at Battle Creek!

Some of us are stuck at home, wish we were out like you, so we must chime in and.... we need a "un-stuck" fix for that! You got that right! I'm preparing to take a trip at the end of the month. I can't wait to get out of town!!!

    Incident at Battle Creek!

When the pull direction will allow it you can simply insert the strap into a receiver hitch and run the slider's pin thru the strap's loop. The problem with this is that any sort of angle between the strap and the hitch opening puts the strap at risk of being cut by the receiver's opening. For...

    Incident at Battle Creek!

I don't believe in luck. ;) I was probably editing my post while you were typing this....read the last paragraph now. Be safe out there.

    Incident at Battle Creek!

But, as I said, nothing bad did happen, so apparently whatever bad happens some time doesn't happen every time. How often have you seen a ball break off? I deleted the above post because I figured you already knew it was dangerous. Just do the math. Here are some sample specs for a 2" ball...

    Incident at Battle Creek!

All you have to do for a safe hook up with a tow strap is to remove the receiver and ball altogether...then push the end of the tow strap into the receiver....put the pin through the tow strap loop....and there you go. Safe and simple and nothing else to have to purchase.

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

Here in AZ the Norcold just can't cool enough during the warm months. BX I'll be spending the month of January in Arizona! What size Norcold are you replacing? Is it the 3.0 cu. ft.? Just so you know....the Waeco was a TIGHT fit in the space of the old Norcold 3.0. It was basically a "press...

1st gen Tundra or new Tacoma?

My girlfriend and I visited the FWC factory when trying to make a decision on which camper to buy. We both felt cramped in the Eagle....but felt ok in the Hawk. Even though you will be camping alone most of the time I think you'll be happier in a Hawk over the long haul.

Anyone got plans for a SW winter trip?

I'm heading down to Southern Arizona for a month (January). It's a beautiful time to see the desert. On the way back home I might stop by the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

Please let us know how the power consumption works out on a trip with all the food. I'm curious to see how the Dometic compares to my Engle. I want to put a new fridge in my boat, and the dometic looks larger...more BEER! Thanks John Will do!

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

Thanks for the info and pictures. I was debating between the 80L and the 110L and your pics with stuff loaded really helps. I think bigger is better in this case. I tend to make extended trips of 4 to 6 weeks so more space in the fridge and freezer is a good thing.

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

That is one I'm thinking of getting then. I agree, like the SS idea better than the black. What kind of charging would you recommend, one or two batteries? I'm trying to avoid the solar cost. I'm not sure what to recommend since everyones needs are different. I have two 105 ah AGM...

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

Is that the same 110L frig FWC offers as an option? Yes, it is the same exact model that FWC puts in for the largest DC fridge. The only difference is the ones they install have the black door. I think the Stainless Steel model looks better and it is only $23 more than the black door model...

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

More: Front shelf of Norcold only 6" due to large heat exchanger inside; Front shelf of Waeco/Dometic 12" - much nicer: Reason Norcold is so much smaller inside....see the back; 1/3 of it is apparatus not storage:

Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

I replaced my Norcold 3.0 cu ft 3-way refrigerator with a Dometic/Waeco 3.8 cu ft DC refrigerator today. The 3-way was still working just great. I had planned to replace it with a DC fridge when it croaked....but that Norcold may run forever and I was tired of always having to fuss with the...

    Roof Sealant

I recently made a trip to the FWC factory for a rear awning install. While I was there I asked Terry what FWC uses for roof sealing and other external sealing. He said they've tried a lot of different sealants....and the one they settled on as the best one is this (he gave me a tube):

    F150 FX4 EcoBoost

The brakes guys is trying to compare his undersized half ton (2000 tundra) to his over-sized f250. Apparently he has not looked at half-tons since 2000 since he thinks a f150 does not have the brakes to haul a 1500 pound camper. If you reread my post I wasn't comparing my 1/2 Tundra to...

    F150 FX4 EcoBoost

Yeah, I can't imagine driving your 12 year old underpowered toyota is much fun. I was talking about driving a newer F150, they ride as nice as most cars. My Toyota is not under powered at all as long as you don't drop a 1500 lb. camper on it's back. Around town it drives just fine....very...
