RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Big Bend to Baja

Going all the way from Big Bend to Yuma to head south into Baja seems long. What about going south into mainland Mexico from Big Bend, hit the coast and drive south to Topolobampo, then taking the ferry across to La Paz in Baja. Then explore Baja as you head north from there? I know nothing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Single LiFePo4 Battery or Two LiFePo4 Batteries in Hawk?

I would say it depends on your use. As R&R says above, one battery works for him with the main draw being the fridge. But if you are running the fridge, heater, charging phones, and using a plugged in laptop, that might be enough. We are having a new rig built right now. We went with two lithium...

Does FWC still deliver their campers to their dealers themselves? If so, they could load yours up and bring it back after their next delivery to Denver.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Couple things I noticed at 5 degrees F.

We got down to 9 one night. The freezing water killed our water pump. Since then we have run the heater over night on very cold nights and left the cabinet door open to make sure warm air got into the pump location.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Pandemic, Cancelled December trip, staying home

Good call Patrick. We are facing a similar issue. We have a new rig being built in South Carolina. Should be done in February. Our plan was to fly back there and drive it home. But with the way this virus is getting out of control and me being one of those people with a "compromised immune...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Widening Side Dinette Bed

Our 2014 FWC has the side dinette and looks much like Ronon's photo when the bed is set up. I found the sections between the curtain and the shelf side to be somewhat uncomfortable when sleeping on it. I bought a 1.5 inch foam pad and cut it to cover all of the cushions and the shelf. It makes...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Two week quarantines in CA, OR, WA - no recreation travel

The difference in the masks shown is the first five are to protect you from breathing something in. The last one is also to protect others from what you breathe out. Most people that catch this flu don't even know it for a week or so, but they are contagious during that time. The mask is to help...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon coast campgrounds open & dungeness crab season is open

Oh man, I am envious. Dungeness is my favorite. We still have about 5 weeks until our season opens. I always get more than I can eat and save the meat for cakes, quiche, dip, whatever. Do the same with salmon. Our King salmon season just ended so bought one last fillet for dinners and smoking...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West over the top commercial.

Rather than watch the videos I went straight to the comments section. Most haven't even noticed there is a camper in the video. Particularly the one in which she demonstrates how she showers. Hmmm, 17 years of using a FWC and no one has ever asked us how we shower.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What to do with the snow on the roof

We were in Yosemite once and it snowed about 8-10 inches overnight. No way could we drop the roof with that load on it. It would crash down the instant I popped the bifold panels and billow out the canvas sides. We tied a towel around a rope and dragged it across the roof to remove as much snow...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Uh oh, new fire reported near Gerle creek, Wentworth springs

I checked in with Ski tonight. If this fire blows their way, they are hoping the scar from the King fire will slow or stop it. But it is in "their backyard" as they call it and an area they frequent, so it is yet another frustrating blow to an already bad season.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Slink update

Yeah, I was looking at a map of the where the Slink fire has burned. Our camp site was almost dead center. And Heenan still looks bad after the fire two or three years ago. Disappointing to see it possibly getting hit again. Thanks for the update Craig.

Whoopee, here is our forecast for the coming Labor Day weekend. If this is Fall weather, I hope it is a short one and winter hits early. Saturday Sunny and hot, with a high near 101. Saturday Night Clear, with a low around 72. Sunday Sunny and hot, with a high near 105. Sunday Night...

Moderators, this is a friendly site and if this post is likely to create a fuss, I understand if you choose to delete it. That said, this was a response to a recent trip report. I'm losing any tolerance for stupid people. Didn't want to hijack that TR so thought I'd start a new thread. We...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newby FWC Grandby questions

The bearings went slowly. We were able to replace them before they failed completely. But that was on a 2000 Tundra, the first year they were made. Our 2011 Tundra has had the camper on it full time since we got it new in 2010 and it has had no issues at all with the rear axle bearings. So I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newby FWC Grandby questions

Hi MJ, Welcome aboard. We started with a 2003 Hawk on a 2000 Tundra on the truck full time. Went through a couple of sets of rear axle bearings. Upgraded to a new Tundra in 2011 and then upgraded to a new Hawk in 2014. Again, the camper is on the truck full time and we have had no issues. That...

Another thing to check... I recall Dirty Dog, the creator of WTW, replaced the stock wheels on his truck with after market wheels. While out exploring the Nevada desert he got a flat. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thoughts on Renogy’s new Eclipse panels

We have a 6 year old 130 watt panel on the roof that is so inefficient it can't keep up with our 12v fridge. We recently had All Terrain Campers add an external plug and purchased the Renogy 100 watt foldable Eclipse panel with controller. It can keep up with the fridge and add charge to the...
