RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kick'in the Habit

Tough Guy, In 1989, I bet my Mother that if she quit, I would cut my hair off. She did, cold turkey. My father, whom I have always called the toughest man I knew, tried and tried. He once told me quitting drinking was easy compared to smoking. Two heart attacks, a quadruple bi-pass, two bouts of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The waiting begins.

The wait is almost over! Have photos from the boys at ATC. Camper was completed while I was on vacation. Am back in MT working, and am hoping to get over there in about two-three weeks. A few minor things to add, propane connections, possible floor covering(padding), mattresses and lastly I am...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West February in Montana

Spend most of the year in Big Sky, just north of West Yellowstone, MT. Lots of great places in and around jellystone to slide around on sticks. Most years, I camp over near Gardner, a couple of times each winter. Have a great time, take it easy driving. Lots of critters. w

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2017 ATC Get Together (Everyone is Welcome) July 27-30

Would love to see this happen. We are using all of our vacation time this year for road trips in the new camper/truck combo. Really like the Alvord desert idea, but anywhere remote and interesting is good for us. Dog friendly would be a plus as well. w

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cooper ST Maxx?

My two cents here. Am on my third set of st maxx. Love them, feel they are the best all terrain tire I have ever used. First two sets got over 45k of use. These were on my 2003 f250 gassed. Third set on my 2016 f350 diesel, 27k and lots of life left. No regrets here at all.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel vs Gas Superduty's

My two Abes worth, I have one of each. Still have a camper for the 03 Gasser, and have pulled my 5000lb trailer over the cascades and rockies many times fully loaded. And the cost of ownership can be higher as well. That being said, when I purchased my 2016 last December, the cost with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Too old to shoulder press kayaks

Sage, we have spoken a bit about this. And about a million other things. I will most likely use the speaker stands as well. Also thinking of some kind of lift mechanism. May have to take them off of the camper otherwise. Thanks for the tips. w

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Too old to shoulder press kayaks

Hi all, New camper is being built, am currently finishing up getting the basics together to put the beast together. We have three road trips planned for next year. Two involve taking our seakayaks, total weight is nearing 100 lbs. Our build includes roof lifter thingys, I have purchased and used...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed

Hi, You are sure to get a lot of opinions on this, most folks go with aluminum. Ute beds are very popular. Some go custom/build them themselves. I went with Protech. Believe they are made in WA, had it made to my specs( 7wx9L). Went with aluminum to save weight, I had mine sprayed with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Puma Ordering w some special requests

Crumbs, I too wanted the sink/stove reversed. Length of camper may make that point immaterial. Mine is due to be started early next week, I had a similar idea about the heater, except mine will have both a furnace and wave. The guys will not install quick connects, but will put in the lines for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted Flat bed camper

I wish you luck with your search. I looked for several years. Just got back from Sacramento, did the final measurements with the guys at ATC. Buying new may be a lot cheaper then you think. While I was searching, the prices on used compared to new was surprising. PM me if you want to talk real...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire mount '14 Dodge 1500 w four Wheel Camper?

2nd/3rd the wilco offroad thing. While planning the build on my soon to be camper/flatbed, the ability to carry another full size spare weighed on me. The Carrie I bought will solve this issue, plus carry ten gallons of extra fuel. Erik and the guys there are awesome to deal with.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RFI Water Filters

I have owned several of the filters mentioned above. All worked fine. Anymore, I carry and use the basecamp filter. While on a fairly long trek in Nepal, we used it along with a steri pen. A little overkill maybe, but I had no issues, and since I usually get sick everywhere we go I consider that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bobcat - Tailgate on?

With our current setup, I have always left the tailgate on. I like the security of locking the tailgate, making it difficult for things to walk away from the sides, like the porch, put a piece of sport turf on it to clean my feet before entering, gives the dog something to jump on and off of ...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RFI: Costco Metal Prints

When i'm not in SW Montana, I am in the Albany/Corvallis area. Wife works at OSU. When I leave MT to go to OR, most time I get on Highway 20 in West Yellowstone, and get off of it in N Albany(about 2miles from the house).

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question about traveling and camping at low temperatures.

I have camped in my current set-up down to minus 15, anything below +25 and I winterize and use jugs. I have used reflectix and it helped quite a bit. I have had my furnace going, while I was awake, a buddy heater at night and both of them in conjunction with a generator/electric heater. The...
