Installation Scheduled! Any questions I should Ask FWC

One idea I have heard here that I think is good advice, is to plan a short, couple of days overnight camp not far from the factory right after you pick up your camper. Test out the systems and then you can head back to the factory if you discover problems or have questions. Also, there are some...

That looks like an interesting collection of boats- quite a body of work to reproduce all those different designs. I would like to visit one day. We have relatives in Oregon so it might happen! Thanks for posting the link. Looks like you put your Souris to use! We also paddled with a Golden...

You've got lots of boats! I agree, the boats are getting heavier as I get older. I actually love the small kayaks we build- 24 pounds with the floor boards and seat back. Not good for tripping though- no room for cargo.

    2x4 Under the camper alternatives?

I like that drawer idea. I've seen that on flatbed models built into the bed platform- seems so useful.

Yeah, both the Inuit skin and lake country birchbark canoes are very capable boats and I'd take the nylon skin any day. We borrow the lashed frame technology from the native designs. We build some 17' canoes- we call them "wilderness travelers," based on the Atkinson Traveler design. They have...

There are some YouTube videos of people really abusing them on purpose to show their strength. The fragile looks are deceptive. Here's one example:

    Thinking About Replacing The Ranger

We love our Tacoma but I would be tempted to wait and see what the new Ranger looks like. All the small trucks so far have the same problem of payload. I suppose the manufacturers don't want to cannibalize sales of their bigger trucks so they don't offer a higher payload on the small ones. Maybe...

No, but uses the same construction concept. Boat is based on the classic Rushton Wee Lassie design. Some differences from the airolite system- we use nylon instead of Dacron for the skin, we don't use the kevlar roving (found it's not needed), all joints are lashed in the traditional style or...

    ultralight canoe

Here's another build-it option- I've built several of these skin-on-frame wee lassie canoes. They're 12 feet long and weigh about 20 pounds. They are much stronger than they look- skin is ballistic nylon water-proofed with a 2-part polyurethane coating that stays flexible. Makes a very tough...

    It's winter! (meteorologically)

Holy January thaw, Batman! We are forecasted for 40°F on Friday! Hallelujia! Going to see some liquid water running around outside, cool! Frank, I looked it up- the first Super Bowl (named after the fact) was played in 1967 in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Green Bay beat the Chiefs 35-10. 2017...

    It's winter! (meteorologically)

Frank, actually, it has never happened. Would be super cool, no puns intended, haha. Weather forecast for Philly is 50°F and sunny for Sunday- great football weather, although the game doesn't start until 5:40 PM local time so it will probably be a bit colder.

Frank, every game is the super bowl at this point. I'm not really a football guy either but it's hard to ignore when the whole state gets into it. Would be fun to have the home team in the Super Bowl- could happen! Getting sorta back on topic, I wonder what the weather forecast for Philly is...

    It's winter! (meteorologically)

Ha, 6 inches of snow here today. Frank, I appreciate the thought- it's true we haven't seen much of that "global warming" lately. But the Vikings won (in most improbable fashion) so people are feeling warm and happy. The harsh winter will be quickly forgotten if they make it to the Super Bowl...
