Can't read the whole article but that might or might not be a great gig.... near some good fishing at certain times of the year if you have time (ie not working).

Getting FWC off of delivery trailer?

You could rent those cable jacks and at least get it off the trailer an inch or so then slide the new dolly underneath. Easy, especially since your going to make it the same height.

    Fleet Refurb Furnace Question

If it's the original control board, I suspect that's the issue. Did it start up and just not light? When I rebuilt my old Eagle, I replaced everything (sail switch, jets, etc.; all cheap) and then had to do the circuit board. I cleaned the flu, put a bit more insulation around the unit...

    Solar Panel (portable @ costco)

Found this at Costco. Could be a good way to top off your battery as needed. Better than nothing and at $80 for 100w, not a bad option.

    Portable 100w Solar Panel

I was at Costco (here in Boise) the other day and they had some portable solar panels. I didn't pay much attention to what they were/are but I'm headed there today and will take a closer look and snap a photo. Worth checking it out if you are looking for solar panels.

Best way to make 5 into 4 scissors steps - need 36", not 40"+

I haven't done that but many of the step manufacturers let you add a step so I'm assuming taking one off is fine.

AK Ferry (North or South?) and places (not to miss) suggestions/timing, etc.

Could you send your partner up with the walk-on crowd to save a spot and then drive on?

AK Ferry (North or South?) and places (not to miss) suggestions/timing, etc.

Nice! Seems like maybe you made reservations on the ferry as you went?

AK Ferry (North or South?) and places (not to miss) suggestions/timing, etc.

I'll check out your blog. Trying to figure out timing and best months, etc. I was hoping North to South might be a bit less crowded, etc. so we could tent it but a cabin would be nice too.

AK Ferry (North or South?) and places (not to miss) suggestions/timing, etc.

It seems like this direction is less travelled and might be easier to get a reservation/cabin/sleeping tent spot. True? Was it full/crowded when you did it? Thanks!

    Hoyden update

Nice! Interesting how life throws you "curves" and how they turn out! Thanks for sharing. This is not what I would have guessed those many years ago when you left the corporate world.

AK Ferry (North or South?) and places (not to miss) suggestions/timing, etc.

Ok, planning on taking the ferry again in 2024 and starting my planning (again). Covid kind of stopped my last planned trip. I've searched the forum and anything that was > 2 years old I glanced at but hoping for some more current intel. A few questions. We're planning on taking the ferry...

To buy or not to buy

If you are handy (and it sounds like you are), it could be a good value for you and you'd get to learn how all the pieces fit together. It's quite intesting to see why/how they all go together. I basically did the same thing to my old Eagle. I didn't have access to a welder, etc. so used ATC...

    Outer window coverings.

I put ours (when we had them) in an old, folding chair bag rolled up and stored them under the seats. I kind of liked the old method where they rolled up on themselves on the outside. Having to "plan" ahead of a storm and attaching them was a hassle (for me at least as I needed a ladder/chair...

Which Sealant, Adhesive or Caulk to Use? Depends on the Application.

Nice, thanks. It's interesting because over the years, I've had discussions with both ATC and FWC about what products to use for various applications. I have to say, they both have different opinions but in the end, I'd use what they say they use....

Anyone done the stove recall done yet?

I was kind of waiting to let local dealers do the recall and thought I'd check to see if anyone has had it done and what their experience was with the "fix". Thanks.

Are load range E tires really needed for camper?

Check craigslist for take-offs, etc. but I would say the short answer is get a LT, E rated tire.

Victron Orion-Ti Smart DC-to-DC firmware update

Just a FYI. I just took a short trip in my FWC and when I connected to the Victron to see how the charging was going, I got a notification that there was a firmware update (or I've missed it for a long time but I haven't been out in a while due to winter). First time I've seen one in a long...

    4 Wheel Camper Cybertruck plans

It seems to me that if you get a FWC, you get it for a number of reasons but one primary one is to do more "off road" type adventures. Having a minimal range (off-road and pavement) is an issue. I personally don't want to have to monitor charging locations (at least where we like to go) and...

eastern oregon/western idaho in early spring?

I'm headed out that area next week for some fly fishing if the weather holds. I can try to report on roads, etc. I've camped at Page Springs and it's nice but as others have stated, it's been a very wet winter in Boise and around here so I suspect the same over there near where you want to go...

    Rear lift panel questions

If it was me, I would use something like what FWC uses now (ie not wood) otherwise you'll have this issue again (granted many years) with wood vs. some type of composite. The prices can't be that different and if you are going to make it yourself, probably cheaper. As someone else stated too...

    Foldable solar panel

Like others, I have one that folds up with a longer cord that plugs into that receptacle on the back of the FWC. When I built my lifepo4 battery pack, I replaced the cheap controller that came w/ the kit with one that supports the lifepo4. No issues but we don't use it that much as we don't...
