    Eagle on Tacoma Help

Nice looking camper. I love my Eagle on my Tacoma.

No Destination : hoyden and two dogs hit the road full-time

I've parked and hiked from a lot of the pullouts and I've seen dogs off leash up there too, although I don't know if that's legal. I would be worried about a dog taking off after the bighorn sheep.

Zion east of the tunnel is less crowded and I like the slick rock up there better than the valley.

Fold down step sheared in half: VERY dangerous

The steps on my late 2014 Eagle are mounted with round hex bolts as well.

    Weather Proofing Strategies For Cameras

I have a couple of LensCoat rain sleeves; a smaller one for camera and regular lens and a large one for when I use a super telephoto.

I emailed Stan about it but haven't heard back about how big their booth will be at the new site, I'm hoping to camp with them too.

Wondered if you'd be able to make it to Expo, see you there.

Do you have two fantastic fans? It helps having one over the bed at least (I camp here in the SE in the summer and it is sweltering here too - 80 degree nights with 80% humidity). I often have both fans going at night, one blowing in over the bed and the other out over the stove.

You're right, I don't think that road would be any fun wet. Good luck on the job, that's good news. Columbia is probably a fun town but since I was a KU student in grad school they are arch enemies. ^_^ Lots of pretty places in MO but it can be horrible in the summer. Make sure you watch for...

Check out Willis Creek Narrows off Skutumpah Road between Tropic and Kodachrome - nice short hike through a neat little slot canyon.

Fold down step sheared in half: VERY dangerous

This isn't the step he's talking about, it's the metal ones on the camper (optional). I have the rubbermaid step and have used it in hot and cold with no issues.

Critique my battery/solar setup before I purchase!

Two in parallel is correct. I did add a second external fan to my fridge which has made it a bit more efficient but nothing magical.

No real witnesses so I was lucky the truck driver came forward to back up my story otherwise they would have figured I just ran off the road. I wasn't in any real shape to pursue anything and mostly just happy to be alive. I would have been better off in retrospect if I had just hit them, but...

It was right by Best Friends where I got run off the road and destroyed my Defender and trailer in 2007. The driver of an asphalt truck thought that the vehicle that ran me off turned in there. They didn't stop or come back to help me out. They do have a nice hospital there in Kanab...

Critique my battery/solar setup before I purchase!

I have 2 75ah agm batteries. I found that when I had added one of the flex panels the charging was adequate when I was in dry sunny climes so I added another to be on the safe side. I've never run into any overheating with the panels, I think the double sided foam tape provides a bit of space...

Critique my battery/solar setup before I purchase!

If you will be doing any camping at all in hot humid conditions like the SE US don't underestimate your battery usage. I have an Eagle with a Dometic 65 and it runs almost constantly during the summer months, and the hazy air doesn't do much for solar efficiency. I have 300w solar on the roof...

    Plastic gray water cap replacement

I think I got the valve at Home Depot. Since the Eagle is narrow it always dripped on the side of the truck when I took the hose off before I got the valve.

    Plastic gray water cap replacement

I've had the 'keeper' break on a couple of the plastic caps that came with the camper and just replaced mine with one of these: http://www.seagearmarine.com/garden-hose-cap-with-chain.html Maybe kind of expensive but I'm hoping it will last a lot longer than the others. (note that the valve was...

    Propane Usage

I camp 100 or so nights a year and use about one bottle per, but I like having the second for when I do run out in the middle of a cold night.
