RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

Is the set up for the Victron similar to the knock off in the video? Not the physical hookup but the programming.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

Ok. Because I overthink things I’m not sure of here is a picture of my current setup. I will leave the positive wires where they are, move the two negative wires I have marked in yellow and labeled, one on left from solar controller and one on right to ground bar to the LOAD side of shunt. Those...

Yes, good point. I currently have 160w. If I increase to a 200a battery I might try go for 300w. Depends on panel size and weight. I’m not getting any younger and my roof is not getting bigger.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Renogy 200A AGM

Yes. Heavy. I have 2 of the Exides that came with the FWC and I believe they are 100 pounds together for 150 ah. I don’t know if I am ready to do the LiFePO4 route with all the additional upgrades that seem to be required, chargers, isolators, wiring, etc.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

Ok. So I have read and reread and think I understand. Here goes- one wire from negative post on battery to BATT side of shunt. If I move all negatives to one battery as you suggest, all those wires would be shifted from negative battery terminal to the LOAD side of shunt. Essentially the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

Thanks for your replies. I feel thick. My batteries are in parallel. I was going to take the ground from the battery with the ground going to the ‘-‘ bus bar and put the shunt between it and the bus bar. My understanding is that the batteries wired in parallel look like one battery. I’m confused...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

So I think you are saying it would just be best to run the ground from the post with the ground attached and the little positive air from the shunt to the post already being used.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shunt wiring question

My batteries have two positive posts and two negative posts. Can I use the post without anything attached to them for the shunt? In the picture they are covered with a plastic cap. Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Single LiFePo4 Battery or Two LiFePo4 Batteries in Hawk?

My understanding is the 100ah Battleborn will still be more than your 2 AGMs of 150ah combined because you should only use 1/2 of the amp hours which would be 75 as opposed to being able to use all 100ah in the Battleborn. I’m sure you will get much more and knowledgeable advice from others.

If the batteries are connected in parallel do you only need to connect one of the batteries to the monitor?

It certainly is not. I always tell myself I should just throw away the tube after I use it...the miserly part of me wins and I do not. I start a new project and then find out I can’t get any fresh material out!

When the time comes I decide to go LiFePo I will most likely just go all Victron and not mix the brand of the various component upgrades I will need. Thanks for the discussion. Much to be learned.

Thanks. Mine is a DLS-30/IQ4. It has the Jack next to the fan, no cable plugged in, but also a sticker directly above that says “Dual voltage jack disabled”. Looks like mine won’t work with the add-on.
