    SW Montana

Vipond Park was one of my favorite places I discovered. Did you drive the road between the kilns and Vipond Park? I had been warned about the road at the ranger station. I'm a wimp. But I decided to drive it and fortunately I didn't meet anyone coming the other direction.

    SW Montana

I'm back from my trip exploring SW Montana. I'm beginning to post the trip to my blog. It may take a week or so to get done, but you can start following along now. I'll update this post when I'm done. Enjoy

    spare key

I'm leaving tomorrow for Montana, so this question is too late for this trip. But there is always the next trip. Where do people hide a spare key? Do magnets work? Cable tie it to something under the truck? Being in the middle of nowhere and losing a key is the one thing that bothers me the...

    Montana

Thanks for offering info about the Pryors. I'll make a decision on the road if I will make it there on this trip. Due to "life happens" stuff I now can't leave until next Tuesday or Wednesday but have to be back the same time. The Pryors may be saved for another trip.

    Montana

Thanks everyone. I wish I had months to explore. Bannock and Virginia City are on my list. The Gravelly Range had been on my todo list but with the recent forest fires I took it off to save for another day. Foy: Please report in and tell me if I'm wrong. You may beat me to that area...

    Montana

Next weekend I'm leaving for a three week trip to Montana. My general plan is to stay south of I-90 and go as far east as the Pryor Mountains. I've read all the post regarding Montana and I think I've identified enought to keep me busy for 2 months. :) But if anyone has a special camping...

I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

I am not electrically minded. I think it is magic when I flick a light switch and light comes on. So, anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong. I suggest that you look at the data sheet for your batteries. My batteries have a float charge of 13.5 but 100% charged is 12.74. The float charge is...

    No-Destination is heading North-Westerly!

Think about Stanley, Idaho and the Sawtooth Mountains to avoid the heat. I did a quick drive through once and it is on my todo list to go back and explore.

    Past forest fires

I just got introduced to this web site. It shows forest fires locations back to 2002. If you want the boundaries, hit "past years fires" and then hit "historic fire perimeters. Enjoy.

Digital GPS Guide for Camping in Canada on Trip to/From Alaska

I use Garmin Basecamp free software on my Surface. That is used with map software I've purchased and the Ultimate Public Campground software. I had to jerry-rig using the UPC and not all features came into Basecamp. This does not have GPS capabilities. I need to use my GPS device to locate...

    Ghost Town Tour

Here is a website about Nevada sites. http://www.forgottennevada.org/sites/index.html You can email the hotel in Silver City and ask about the road condition. Last year the road from the west (Jordan Valley) was better than the road from the east.

    Bears Ears and Mtn biking

When I was there the Cedar Mesa visitor center was staffed with volunteers that had been coming there for 9 years. They were full of knowledge that they freely gave out. I suggest that you stop in. Here is a web site with a lot of information and one of the maps on the site...

    Road Trip Resources

I like using Ultimate Campgrounds. I downloaded it and referenced it into my Garmin Basecamp map on my small portable computer. I don't have to have cell service or internet to use it. At times I check Free Campsites and Campentium for reviews of places I find in Ultimate Campgrounds.

    Possible Western Trip

Some of my favorite drives. Long canyon on the Burr Trail. Buckhorn Draw. Located north of I70, west of Green River. Plus the Wedge. To see the Wedge she may need to walk 50 - 100 ft if someone is parked in the close spots. I70 between Green River and somewhere east of highway 10. There...
