    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

I updated my website to include a bunch of information about my camper. It is essentially a fancy tool to navigate to different videos about the build. I also made a really cool map that shows all the different places I have camped and links to the videos. Check it out here...

    84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Someone recently PM'd me about my water system, I shared a few thoughts with them that I wanted to disseminate to the rest of community. If I was to do my water again I would actaully do something different. I would not install the big rv freshwater tank I have and just go with the two jerry...

    1981 Fleet build/restoration

Gut it and redo:) You'll love the process. It won't be too big of a money pit. I spent about ~3k on my full rebuild. I think you already connected with me on some other media forms but feel free to reach out again with whatever spesific questions you have. Have fun with it and get into it!

Thanks for checking out the videos. You can't really go wrong with the pass through location. I am sure you'll do something well. Yes, the mounting process is always stressful. With the new truck we had the jacks absolutely topped out and it was still crazy close.

Someone recently wrote me about the canvas instal process and I wanted to include my response here for the benifit of all. The instal of the canvas is not very tough at all. I trust you saw my video in my sewing project series (part 3) where I did the instal. If not, please go check it out. A...

3 pin, did this thread in no problem? I tried to do this today with a reliant 7 gallon jug (the teal one) but the threads felt like they were binding up a bit. Let me know - Tim

Ohh man, that is some sad stuff. That last photo hurts, upside down on the side of the highway, no one wants to be there. I am not sure where I would go from where you are. I mean anything is fixable with enough time, but that would definetly a lot of time. It wouldn't be worth all that much...

New video talking about getting the raiser platform built to fit the old fleet on the tundra. Also. I am giving away a bunch of FWC gear thanks to the one and only Stan over at FWC. Check out the video to enter to win some awesome gear.

1988 Four Wheel Camper Grandby renovation and Tundra Fit

I am not sure if the brakes are worse on old truck (2nd gen tacoma) vs new truck (05 tundra). Too many variables. In my tacoma I had the 5 speed so I did a ton of engine braking. Actually in the 80K miles I put on that truck I never did that pads and it still stopped very strong even with...

1980 Granby Rebuild for 2nd Gen Tacoma

Be careful with snow on the roof. I had some heavy early season snow on my roof last year and didn't brush the snow off before dropping the top (snow had fallen over night with roof up). The roof came crashing down and I actually managed to sandwhich my head between the roof and the cab over...

Ouray. Congrats on the decision. I think you'll be very happy with it once you are out camping. In regards to the sale, there is a different part of the site the 'gear exchange' http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/forum/15-gear-exchange/ Not sure how to price a project like yours but I am sure...

1980 Granby Rebuild for 2nd Gen Tacoma

Looking great. Those dang roof trim pieces are a serious PIA! They certainly get slightly bent when off the camper and I had the hardest time lining everything up on the reinstall. My front of the roof now has a 'gap tooth' because of it. Go buddy go, you'll be back to a working shell in no...

What size bit for bolt on Toyota Tacoma steel bed bar?

T-55 is correct as your confirmed. You do not need to get under the bed. The bolts do have some sort of sealant on them (blue) but I think it is just antirust, not a loctite. I used a simple breaker bar like this: Amazon.com Leverage is your friend, slow and steady but they should come right...

wow. that sounds like a cluster F*** and really unfortunate. I hope no one was hurt. I talk extensively about using the specially designed tie down brackets on my tacoma in the earliest pages of this thread. check them out. What to do now? That is a great question. I would suggest you start by...

Hi All, I've had a lot of support from this site over the years. My camper would be no where near where it is today if not for this site. And because I love the camper so much, I am making stickers of it! If anyone is interested in one of these 3X3" stickers, reach out to me. We will...

Thanks Poky. I am having a great summer! My wife and I are intentionally reducing the amount we travel (fly) so we can be at home and in the camper more and just slow down a bit. Its been pretty good so far, already have another weekend of camping on the radar in a few weeks. Hope you and your...

Hey Jame, For the cab over area, I think it was more of the same material. Post 37 in this thread has a pretty clear photo of it that might help you figure it out a bit better. I guess the only difference in the cab over area is that the square tube is open on one side. I add a piece of wood up...
