    Taking The Plunge

Is what FWC uses better? What else is there?

    Taking The Plunge

That bad huh? It'd be less messy if FWC would use MC-4 connectors like the rest of the planet. Their proprietary plugs are different than the seeming norm. They send with the purchase of the hawk two small solar wires with their plug on the end. And you have to solder the MC-4 wires with the FWC...

    Taking The Plunge

This is what I did to organize the solar panel wiring on top of the Hawk. I coiled and zip tied the wires together where I could and then used aluminum tape to hold it all down on the roof. It ain't pretty and I don't know how long it'll hold up to the weather but, it'll be less likely to get...

    Taking The Plunge

I actually had two rigid panels. Originally I was working on putting together a system for my house, which then turned into solar for my expedition trailer. When I bought the Hawk, I was more concerned about weight and I really wanted to go with two 100W flex panels, because the rigid is much...

options I would like to see

The current faucet and sink is really nice and the head turns right and left, but it'd be nice if the head was also a remove able sprayer type, like in a house's kitchen sink, that way you could have the non flush sink and stove and still be able to have a king sized slide out bed. I can sleep...

I bought some aluminum tape. I was gonna zip tie the wires in loops, then tape them down.

In my second set of pix is the rigid panel leaning against my fender. . After covering the roof panels, my remote panel was still feeding the unit at 90%.

Hoping to use prewiring for solar panel, but can't find the wire.

Mine were over the water tank area. I have a roll over couch.

    Taking The Plunge

So, today I first cleaned off the roof with some rubbing alcohol and a towel. Then I laid the panels down where I wanted them and traced the outside edge with a pencil. I utilized the edge of the Yakima Tracks as a guide. I'm not too worried about the shade they might cause and it's unlikely...

    110 receptacle issue

Thanks, that explains a lot. I noticed a 110 receptacle in the back of the cabinet under the counter almost directly behind the other one. I am also assuming that is for plugging in your refrigerator when plugged into shore power. Can a 12V fridge be plugged into both 12V & a 110 socket, or...

    110 receptacle issue

No I wasn't plugged in. I'm assuming from your responses that I need to be plugged in to shore power for the receptacle to work?

    110 receptacle issue

Last night I slept in the Hawk here at home. I wanted to have my cell phone and tablet charging while I was in there. No matter what I did the receptacle wouldn't work and after using my volt meter, I learned it was totally dead. Am I missing something?

    Buyers regret?

My fathers hobby is fine wood working and cabinetry. We have a great shop here on the property. Maybe one day I'll coax him into redoing the cabinets in my hawk.

    Buyers regret?

Some time ago before I ordered my hawk, I had read somewhere that FWC was using real birch plywood. What they didn't say was that it is plywood covered in fake wood tape. I was looking forward to real wood grains. I am happy that it's good quality plywood in the cabinetry. I just wood have...

    Low Cost Mods

Some low cost additions. A dish rack with lid which fits in my sink from camping world and this folding shower platform made of Poplar. (Liriodendron tulipifera) It's very lightweight and fits under the cabinets in the Hawk. I may try to copy it in Southern Yellow Pine, (Pinus taeda) because...
