    Solar Power

Like Jimmy says, you need to figure out your power requirements. Here is a great post with a solar calculator. solar spreadsheet I modified it after I downloaded it to match my equipment. You dont half to be an electrical expert, but you need to understand how to calculate power consumption...

Yeah there a a few little quirks that can only be fixed by improvements in the core software platform. I hope that will happen in the not-too-distant future. Until then - sorry for the inconvenience come on now...its no inconvenience... at all....period. i appreciate the site and respect...

Installing wiring harnass on new Hawk

i am not aware of backup lights being involved. this is how my 2007 hawk is wired. a white wire will run from truck battery positive to that 30 amp thermal circuit breaker, be sure to connect to the brass stud. you will mount the breaker on the firewall then run a wire from the other stud to...

    solar panel charging trouble

how much power does that fridge draw during a typical day? edit: i looked up the specs and the unit is fused at 8 amps. it probably draws 4 to 5 when the compressor runs. it should use about 18 amp hours per day. assuming 10 minutes run time each hour. if you have 6 hours of sun your solar...

i like coos bay- moved out here for a job ten years ago. plenty of outdoor recreation all year long. not too far from the cities, but far enough. wet winters aren't too bad, but the summer nw winds beat me down. my biggest problem- the pizza is terrible. got a bread machine? make pizza dough...

    even more whining....

Nope sorry. I can't create a modern content oriented site with large photo support (900 pixels) if I make the site any narrower than it is now. well i figured i should ask. these things do wonders as you well know!

2010 Chevrolet 8 foot bed dimention details

i would think that those braces would cause damage over time. i know my hawk moves around a bit, long washboards, rough rutted roads, etc. all of the contact areas in the ford bed are flat. 60.5 inches at the base...but not with rounded braces. my hawk measures 58 inches. tight spot. thats...

is there anything i can do to improve the site display layout on a 16x9 screen. our travelling laptop is used to watch movies on the road.....but it gets a lot of use here. my wifes pc also has a 16x9 screen. things like shrinking border widths like the dark grey ones on either side of this page.

    alaskan cab over camper

What is happening to 3/4 ton ratings? I had my Alaskan on a 3/4 ton IH and it hardly knew there was anything there. Didn't affect the mileage either: 8 mpg with or without Alaskan. Great combination if you could afford the gas. thats the benefit of a diesel, better mileage

    Diode +

thats probably going to mean you will have to buy a socket to fit the nut. i had to, and it was tough to back it out. wouldnt a 12v only compressor fridge push you immediatly toward a 2nd camper battery? thats a intermittant 5 amp load, with maybe a total run time of 3 hours a day? if it...

    Charging from truck

man oh man this is fun eh? i guess given the manufacturers performance down to 11.1 v (which is too low cause the alarms start chirpin') you should be able to count on a 6.7 amp draw over ten hours. geez i guess more calcs are required.....not now. too many beers

    Charging from truck

a 75 amp hour battery will deliver 3.75 amps for 20 hours - and be discharged down to 10.5 volts. here is the sheet on the interstate battery i got with my hawk. look at the current draw listed to bring the battery to 11.1 volts in 10 hours, 6.7 amps per hour.

    Charging from truck

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just ask here: So, I'm back from a few days out in UT and can't remember what voltage is a fully charged battery? After 6 hrs of driving, my camper batt is at only 12.8v. After one night of furnace use (it got down to the mid-20s), it was down to 12.05v. I...
