How to carry second spare tire?

Craig -- or anyone using the Safety Seal system: Do you have the "big tire" version of the Safety Seal kit? That's what the other guys linked to, so I assume that's the right one...but the product description doesn't say if "big tire" means "3/4 ton pickup" or semi...or Menrad camper i...

Removing hot water drain (ours won't budge)

when i pulled mine out it was a LOT of work....very difficult. just had to bite the bullet, used a big breaker bar and a tight fitting socket. it was tough, tough, tough. in the end, i won. i put a anode rod with a drain fitting in to replace the original.

Waking up to find not much oxygen left in camper.

Are you saying just sleeping in your camper drove down the levels or were you running an unvented heater? If just sleeping in there, you must have really sealed up your rig, I can't imagine the stock configuration not having enough drafts in the turn buckle ports, sideliner, etc. How were you...

Waking up to find not much oxygen left in camper.

I was up in Oregon with my two brothers visiting relatives during the last week. We were up at John Day and since I thought it was going to be cold I buttoned up the camper before we retired for the night. When morning came around I tried to start the coffee but my lighter wasn’t working. I...

Improved battery charging is available cheap

Where are you seeing that? Just looking at a random yellow top optima (D27F) spec sheet they say 13.8-15V during bulk/adsorption and float at 13.2-13.8V. Optimas are better at taking the higher charge supposedly. Deka AGMs list 14.4-14.6V max (you thinking of the Gels which are limited to...

    Ford Camper Package?

i think that what ford is doing is: 1. saying that swaybars, overloads, and more alternator capacity are required in their opinion before you put a 20 foot tall lance 12 foot camper on the truck. i think they are being prudent. they HAVE to look at worst case scenario. 2. they are making...

    Ford Camper Package?

Thanks for the replies so far. Kcowyo, my understanding with State Farm so far is that if the camper is off the truck and in the garage (where mine unfortunately is until I get my truck), it is covered under homeowners, but there is a contents limitation and it is only covered up to 1k. Good...

    Winter Use FWC/ATC

I'm getting ready for some October nights in the Sierra and Death Valley (Saline Valley) in November. This will be my first winter with a FWC. I found that reflectix is sold in 24" width, which fits perfectly for the pop up section on my Hawk. We tried a six foot scrap secured with self...

    Choosing a Multimeter

I walked into Home Depot and picked up the cheapest multimeter I could find. It works wonders for voltage readings but the amp range is only 200mA, useless for me. After finding this, I walked down to Radio Shack to find something in the 30 amp range, but they didn't have anything over 10A...

    Ford Camper Package?

It does seem funny to me that 'we' (light camper owners) are worried about the weight of our campers in fullsize trucks - when there are a million guys driving around with 2500-3500 pound way over weight slide ins and not thinking twice about it. With that said - I'd get the camper package...

    SurePower 1314/1315 vs. "battery switch"

The whole starting deal is part of why I have the VSR/ACR. Can leave the aux bank isolated at the battery switch, but still have the alternator charge it while running. If you go with the "dual sense" version of these units then any solar input will close the circuit and top off the starting...

    SurePower 1314/1315 vs. "battery switch"

I may just go out and toss my ammeter in between the camper and the truck and see just what it does when I start the truck. Its never tripped the breaker. how would you know? its thermal...it would reset on its own. i sure would like to see the results!
