Rear springs instead of airbags for the F150 FWC? camper!

Many on here will tell you that you'll be much happier with a 3/4 ton :D Like me! I have a 97 F150 and have had the bags on and carried the Grandby, never an issue with the bags, but I bought a 99 F250 and and very pleased with that. No amount of springs will make an F150 anything like an...

    Which Wave to go

it just isn't big enough for keep the Hawk warm. Jack That surprises me some as the 3 seems to be good in my Grandby in all but the well below freezing temps. I have insulated with reflextic just about everywhere and the camper sits on 2" of foam insulating board.

Nice pics! I am heading that way tomorrow and it seems we will be traveling much the same route. Look for the Grandby on an F250 :)

Finally back on the road - Bend to Arizona

After a seemingly endless series of setbacks I am finally getting out for some real quality time on the road. The goal is to head towards Arizona to get a break from the winter weather. I'll keep an eye out for ya :D I'm heading West sometime Wednesday and eventually getting to DV but...

    Outside shower using existing pump?

Yeah.....I don't think I'm blessed :( Maybe it is still the honeymoon phase but my new bride says she is fine with a Navy shower (no sailers) and she prefers the backcountry to developed campgrounds :D . I think I have this thing working. Used 3/8 line to suck the water from my accessory jug...

    Outside shower using existing pump?

Let us know about the 12v transfer pump. I carry two 5 gallon water cans (military type) and am looking for an easy way to transfer them to the campers main water tank. I bought the Harbor Freight transfer pump. You can connect a female garden hose fitting to both the in and out, or a male...

    Outside shower using existing pump?

The solar bags need some good sun time so it isn't as easy when traveling, especially if cool or cloudy and the bag isn't getting the rays. I'm now thinking I will get a little 12v transfer pump, stick in under the external cover where the fridge used to be, run a hose to the extra water...

    California coyotes better watch out!

That's OK, the New Mexico wolves like mountains, too. I know some sad looking lobos in the Alamogordo zoo that we could liberate ... ;) Sounds like a camper rally, see you there at 2 AM.

    Outside shower using existing pump?

Since the need for a shower has increased recently (got married) I am exploring options. I have a solar shower and have rigged a hook for it off the camper roof rack but that has limits. I also have a Zodi but frankly it has been a pain in the butt, the pump runs off batteries when it...

    FWC Hawk with mods

Hi, Thanks The difference of that 5 mpg isn't much when your talking 50K for a new truck- I can buy a lot of fuel for that. Thanks Tom Agree :D Bet I've bought some items from TCI for my DR650, maybe will get some parts for my TE250 if your TE310 parts would work :) I think the DR...

    Roosevelt Lake in AZ?

I followed this in NM, after that it made its' way to Kelso. I do plan to go through there, very cool building. Like trains? Do go to Kelso, if you can. It is a restored train depot. You will spend a few hours and it will be very well worth it. I used to poke thru the station back when it...

    Roosevelt Lake in AZ?

Probably heading towards Death Valley next week and am looking at my options for getting there. The Southern route is through Tucson, to Kitt Peak and Organ Pipe, then Joshua Tree and Mohave. I could also stay further North on 60/70 through Safford and Globe then up towards Roosevelt Lake. I...

    Which Wave to go

Thanks Mr. Sun. The cover's been on my wish list. I bought the official cover but it is not a great fit with the legs installed but I put it on as MarkBC says, as soon as cool. And then I cover it with the plastic bag it shipped in and stick the heater in a corner where it hibernates until...

    Which Wave to go

Yep to the door. I didn't think about the catalytic element being fragile. I wonder what kind of abuse it can take? I would think for the average WTW user, that has theirs mounted and if they have traveled any washboard roads, should have put the Wave through some pretty serious...

    Which Wave to go

Is this a good idea or not? Is there a problem I am not seeing? Jack Actually mounted to the door? I wouldn't think it would like the closing/jarring and greater exposure to dirt? I always think of that catalytic element as somewhat fragile.

8th Year full time under the Stars

“Gotta' Keep Movin' on” . NM Camping at “Three Rivers”, New Mexico, has only been the tip of the iceberg. This great gifted State we have never quite explored before however is still in it's cold state of mind with shorter days increasing the logistical difficulties. Maybe not difficulties...

    Used FWC camper alert

Thoughts on the furnace v catalytic heater. Buy a proper furnace (just an opinion there . . .). Or just use a 5 or 6 foot hose and put the Wave heater where you want it. The Wave6 might be overkill.

    Tighten those tie downs

Like this: http://building.dow.com/na/en/products/insulation/rigidfoam.htm Pretty sure that is what I have under the camper. It cover 32' ft of uninsulated floor.

    What's under your camper?

I'm sold on 1" blue foam insulation. Doesn't noticable compress, camper stays put, and floor insulation is a good thing. I actually have 2" to have my Grandy clear the side rails on my F250.

    Ubehebe Crater to Blow?

That is interesting. Hey Barko, have you gone to Kilbourne Hole to look for olivine? Been there several times, down in it as well but never really looked for the rocks/gems. Interesting little destination.
