Initial pic of driver’s side galley. Top deck removed & slightly extended. My Shell order included heater & glass top stove. I ordered online & configured a 7 gallon Ronco marine water tank. Added undermount bar sink using Starboard as a sink top. Starboard countertop will be added to the...

Grandby Shell build, it takes a Village, a bit more install info, Zero Declination drop down shower

Cutouts into the lower drivers bunk side paneI face. Separate cutout for the electrical components. With a Shell, you get a 6 fuse block. I will be stacking a 2nd 6 fuse block onto this one, so I can direct wire the refrigerator & a very small water pump. The other two cutouts will give me much...

Grandby Shell build, it takes a Village, a bit more install info, Zero Declination drop down shower

Initial pic of rear passenger side corner cabinet. It will have a utility drawer at the top. My wife bemoans waiting for all this. I wanted a lighter, off grid, energy efficient unit with some added comfort & functionality. I also just wanted something individually unique. I promised her a...

Grandby Shell build, it takes a Village, a bit more install info, Zero Declination drop down shower

Drawers constructed of Hardrock Maple ply purchased from FWC. 4’x8’ sheet was $117 when I bought it last Fall. It is what they predominately use for their interior cabinetry. When drawer hardware gets attached I will take a quick pic. I purchased (cabinet) slam latches & (drawer) push button...

Some new photos depicting my Shell remodel plans/dreams. This buildout is being implemented by a friend of mine, & a friend of his, who both have skills I do not possess. It has been a long process. Shown are cutouts into the lower face panel of a Grandby rollover couch. Extension drawers will...

    FWC Camper/Truck Cover? Carport Cover?

Hello, I am not finding much discussion or reviews on preferred “Camper Cover” choices. I am looking for recommendations on either, (or both) a soft RV type Cover, or a metal framed Carport type Cover. My Grandby will, for at least 4 years, be truck mounted 24/7. Preferably, I would like to...

    Family of 4, table options?

The Grandby front dinette cushions are 48” long. It sits 4 adults snugly. It will give needed separation. But as the family grows the overall spacing will become challenging. Consider upsizing to the King bed slideout as well. IMO, the FD would be the only floor plan for a Family of four.

    18 Fleet Shell Couch Question

https://rbcomponents.com/products/folding-sofa-sleeper-hinge-assembly This is what FWC uses, I am fairly positive. Maybe not needed, but nice to have extra support base in the aisle. Unless you lower/recess, the E/W side bunk support, you will also, likely need a foot platform to avoid dangling...

Grandby Shell build, it takes a Village, a bit more install info, Zero Declination drop down shower

Shown is an aluminum Lagun swivel, table arm system, mounted to the Camper front wall. Heavy duty, easy adjust, multiple pivot. The added stainless wall mount was fabricated by my buddy. A wall mount helps sink load into the front, aluminum tube, internal Camper studs for solid support. Metal or...

    Portable Solar Panel Addition

+2 Spend time resesearching solar roof mounting. A direct bond is theorized to cause heat damage/failure. Air flow underneath seems necessary. Also direct bonding greatly complicates removal & replacement if needed. Check out past threads.

Below are 2 pics that show my backup camera mounted over the top center of the rear bumper via a handy standard porthole. (2018 F150) This was basically a plug & play into the harness plug that remained after the tailgate removal. The other pic is the Battery box with batteries run in parallel...

I’ll roll the wires back & down, no unintended shade wanted. The mat I got for the truck bed before Camper install & the rear backup camera that replaced my tailgate setup. I highly recommend calling Camera source, excellent customer service, it helped ensure I got what I needed. I was able to...

    Battery choice

I spent a lot of time looking as I wanted/ needed to be light. My whole rig combo is geared to it. Went with a Shell to be light & to be able to put $$ elsewhere. I chose LiFePo4, with internal Bluetooth. It was pricey but, so far, has been great. With the BT App, on my iPhone, I can monitor...

One more pic ..... I found aluminum tube to be my best frame option. I wanted 3 Solar panel capability (Alaska) & was lucky 3 could fit N to S on my roof. I wanted easy on & off for replacement. These flex panels may lack longevity. I hope to get a few years use. Replacement on EBay for Elfeland...

Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

I had to get larger than a Tacoma to inspire my Bride to choose a FWC over a Sprinter setup. With research, strictly numerical, I found Ford to have the best payload ratio. With a loaded FWC, I figured (gear depending) 3/4 ton, with a Shell, 1/2 ton with HD pkg. Our life has been tents &/or...

Global Solar 115W PowerFLEX+ BAPV Flexible CIGS Solar Panels

Wow, a 25 year warranty would inspire confidence & ~185F does seems adequate. Proprietary heat barrier? I will have to check these out. Were you at the FWC Anza Borrego Rally in October? Did we chat?

1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, what are most people using for their FWC?

I also have a F-150, 2018 w/8’ bed, heavy duty pkg., ordered thru dealer. I wanted the EcoBoost engine. My FWC Grandby is a Shell with rollover couch, heater, glass stove, side awning. I have Two lithium batteries = 150ah @~45 lbs total, Two 120w flex solar panels w/alum frame mount @~15-20 lbs...

My 120W flex Solar cynergy panels (2) are mounted to an aluminum tube frame which is mounted to my Yakima tracks. Frame weighs ~5 lbs. Panels are ~5 lbs. There is good air flow underneath panels. Heat has been a major concern as u mentioned. What is different about these panels, re heat? What...

    Gold Lakes Basin 4x4 Camp

Thanks for a reminder. Haven’t been to the GL Basin area for maybe 20 years. Mostly rocks & ruts is my memory? 15 or so campsites? Dragging a Malone xlight kayak trailer w/12” bias tires, probably out of the question?
