You know you're a geezer when.......................

....when you can respond to yet another eye-rolling adventure from a Millenial with, "i remember when..." ....when you suddenly remenber you told some story from Back in The Day to that person already. ....when you spend more times with "the guys" discussing ailments and medications than women...

    Trucks for an Alaskan Camper

Remember that a 75 lb dog will weigh several hundred lbs if you ran into something and it was "launched" into the netting. Design it so that you have padding across the "floor" of Dog World with storage for the ramp and other items under that and the padding extends UP at the front just about to...

    some issues with 10' CO

I'm thinking that with a 10' you may ot have had enough support under that last two feet of camper and that combined with it being exposed to water more readily allowed the wood to soak up and deteriorate to the extent that it sags now. It will only get worse. 1) If you don't have that last two...

Rusty...we've all read about guys having to do suspension additions to carry a heavier load than their truck was meant to carry on the rear axle especially. For the benefit of anyone interested, the GVWR is the total weight of the vehicle and that INCLUDES the tongue weight of the boat you want...

Back in the day, we had an 8' NCO we took up into the Sierras....towed an 11' aluminum boat behind the F-150 4x4 and loved it. Except for ONE thing....I'm 6'4" and need ROOM in the bed and that meant the wife and I were a little cramped in the front dining area bed. I thought upgrading to the...

    Bugs

If you determined they got into the camper out in the boondocks and not in your yard....when you get home, put a large lantern or droplight just outside of the back door and leave it ON and the screen door OPEN until you go to bed. They will be attracted to THAT light and exit the camper...

I remember replacing the aluminum vent tops on the Lance with some really cool smoked plastic tops.....WRONG! They did not like old Mr. SUN beating down on them after a couple years even though I did like the subtle lighting advantage of them during the daylight hours. The gasket fit onto the...

    Trucks for an Alaskan Camper

MD...there are some threads about "Dog World" but keep in mind the design should be SAFE for your pet. Any design that does not allow for the dog to be secured in the event of a drastic braking action or even worse, perhaps rear ending someone....will launch your BF forward and could cause...

just got done brushing two coats Kilz primer on the exterior lid

Keep your eyes on CL for those who are parting out an AK. There was one up somewhere on I-5 or 99 that had almost all the stuff, including the sink awhile age...might still be there. Some elbow grease and,,,voila!....you have a perfectly good sink!

If you have one of those Camping World or RV repair facilities in the south Bay, take that gasket with you. It may be a standard type roof vent seal which they may have. I think the old Lance I had used a similar type seal so maybe a Lance Parts website would show the same one as you have.

Still looking for an 8 Ft. CO Alaskan!

I saw it on CL but I am after a cab over as I want the extra bed. The pics look good and if it was a CO I'd be on the Highway 5 to come get it! Good Luck with the sale, its a nice one!

Utility side boxes instead of fenders

Maybe a "service body" would work for you? Knapheide or one of those companies that specialize in building a service body for pickups would have one for the 2000 Tacoma or, maybe they can build you one?

I think you will be OK with just raising up the AK to clear the box rails. I think it is new enough so sliding it in between the tailgate will not require rebuilding the back section of the AK to fit. I think if you go up 3" or so you will not only clear the bed rails but the top of the truck...

Is the new truck a standard cab, an extended cab or a four-door? i hear the four door is the problem, but it may also be dependant on which truck mfger, Ford, Chevy, Dodge? Like I said, time to measure the AK and then visit the dealer to measure a truck like the one you ordered. Let us know...

    New 1976 8ft CO owner

You may find that the bed walls are taller on your new truck which means you need a "spacer" to raise the whole AK up so it fits flat on the floor and does not ride on the bed walls as that will tear it apart. You can measure the AK now and go to the Ford store and measure a truck to see what...

Still looking for an 8 Ft. CO Alaskan!

I'm just thinking it is a little too far away from me (1100 miles each way). I have seen this one on CL before...if it's in your Zip code I know one of us would be interested pending the amount of wear & tear and possible leaks & water damage/rot to it. I think I have resigned myself to taking a...

Thanks gents...with a limited budget and being set on the 8 ft CO, there isn't a lot available and a lot of it is too far gone for me to restore so an extra set of eyes is appreciated... Still looking for an 8 Ft. CO Alaskan!

I've missed out on a couple, others were too far gone for me right now and some were too expensive, another one contained pics of two DIFFERENT interiors so that one did not warrant a call, especially after it surfaced in the LA/San Diego area ad recently in the Reno area. It sounded too shady...
