RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Covering an Alaskan Camper during off season

If you're not going to use it over the winter...you might consider a small heater (old resistance 100 or 60 watt bulb...to keep things dry over winter There are dehumid tools available...piano equipment....small enough... but big enough to make a difference

like has been said....COVER IT....It'll take an extra long tarp to get over the CO but well worth it....and it'll need to be replaced each year. I priced a waterproof, well made cover for my NCO....I wanted it done a special way.....after the first quote...I bought a silver tarp every year I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Replace key based on lock code?

there are T nuts on the back...it's not uncommon for them to spin....I'm dealing with one myself If you can....drill the bolt head out...getting a grip on it is always the problem. the reason it's spinning..the wood has deteriorated far enough on the inside of the door to release the teeth on...

1...using an older Alaskan while off the truck is a losing proposition...the floors are held on by itsy bitsy little tiny nails...and if they used glue it was water soluble. Most Campers were bolted in the trucks and left there. there have been cases of Alaskan purchases made...takes it home...

That's some good info Willys....now would you elaborate on the use of the purple loctite....that might be a good addition to a small repair kit for onboard quick repairs

the raised heights from the top of the cab are about the same....but the CO has the advantage of "windsheild lift". The direct impact of the wind is lessened....there is, however an eddy current formed under the CO and the top of the cab.... several members on other boards of WTW have designed...

longhorn's right about the silicon...just for the screw holes and....your o-rings are the wrong size....as Ripper pointed out...the caps are guides only...the fluid should stop at the o-rings...you can get them at Alaskan and....I keep a 22 5/8" old broom handle and a full set of extra o-rings...

link works for me....tank/steps/storage setup...in my gallery noticing drips on the inside is not good....fix asap...the water will stain the wood interior and that's the end...not to speak of the frame absorbing it.... wood rot in an enclosed space with one side warm and toasty and the other...

nice job shackbait.....I like the neopreme washers!!.....and the loop under the siding fold....neatly done you might want to back them out and fill the holes with silicon or butyl and replace...especially the ones holding the overhead rack near the electrical inlet...that area is notorious for...

2 persons....and there was a hammock option for children....not very effective for quality sleep the rear box out under the refer in the older models is too wide for the newer trucks...typical width reduction is 2.5" - 3"...the body width between the wheel wells is ok...but does nicely with a...

Keep in mind....if you plan to leave it on the truck the foam will be fine...but if it's going to be loaded and unloaded....the lower section sides do get a little beat up over the years and the foam will go bye bye good call on raising it with the 1x...one of the first places to rot on the...

I'm speaking of butyl glazing tape or bead...comes in long rolls...inert and impervious to water....goes under the gutters and eyebrows if the camper is going to remain on the truck over the winter...get the gutter and vent caulking done asap....you can use a tube of silicon to get you over the...
