RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West *SOLD* 2014 Hawk camper, $23,000 Canadian (~17,400 USD) OBO

Awning is in perfect shape, Bill. There is a shallow dent on the roof from a falling branch. No leaks or tears. No thermal package. Yes, the main body of the camper is 80 inches. I take the tailgate off my truck but a friend with the same camper took the bumpers off the front and loads it on a 6...

Thanks for that! Unfortunately it is telling me the file is too large. It is no bigger than the other pics though. Oh, well.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West *SOLD* 2014 Hawk camper, $23,000 Canadian (~17,400 USD) OBO

Hi Glenn. I am carrying the Hawk on an F150, but really any half ton pick up should do, 5 1/2' with tailgate on and open, or 6 1/2' with tailgate removed. The total dry weight is under 1000 pounds. The fridge is indeed three way. The fridge, stove, hot water heater and furnace all run off 2...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West *SOLD* 2014 Hawk camper, $23,000 Canadian (~17,400 USD) OBO

Very good condition. 3 cubic foot fridge, 2 burner stove, hot water heater, sink, outdoor shower, propane furnace, awning, rollover couch, queen sized bed, Yakima roof rack, mechanical camper jacks. The camper is located in Rossland, British Columbia.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Isolated electrical failure.

FYI, I charged the RV battery by plugging it into shore power, and it has functioned totally fine since then. I guess one just needs to "top it up" periodically.

So the battery has succefully charged when plugged into shore power, even though it completely discharged while driiving highways on a trip. So presumably this means the battery itself is fine, and the... converter?.... that allows charging from shore power, is fine. So then it is something in...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Isolated electrical failure.

Well, I plugged into shore power and everything works. So there is no wiring issue, just either the RV battery or the charging system. I suppose if I replace the battery I will know... but not right away as, if it is the charging sytem, I won't know until the new RV battery completely discharges.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Isolated electrical failure.

Thanks everyone. I just got back from a long weekend trip with the camper. I didn't have a chance to look into anything before I left so just had to live with it as is. Meaning no fridge! Anyway, while away, the other electrical devices that HAD been working failed. So it at least seems like, at...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Isolated electrical failure.

Without apparent warning, the celing lights, furnace, and fridge in my 2014 Hawk have all stopped working, as has the fridge fan and floor lights. The water pump and ceiling fan still work, and starting the truck makes no difference, so obviously the battery is still charged. All fuses are...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Bike & 'yak mount

I am very intrigued by the original poster's bike carrying system. However, I have the larger three way fridge and it extends right to the roof (when in the down/travelling position) which limits access to the space where one would want to mount a fork mount on the left (driver) side of the...

Good points. Now I just need to find info or a thread about how to mount them.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Instructions for installation of Yakima roof rails/tracks

I've searched here and googled, and have not been able to find actual instructions for doing this. I have a newer (2014) hawk, seamless/screwless roof, so will be drilling. Any links to a how-to would be appreciated.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carrying a kayak WITHOUT a roof rack.

Rethinking this whole thing. May try to install the yakima tracks. Because of the ceiling vent I would only be able to fit one boat with this system and might need to transport other folks kayaks when shuttling. Still will need a tie down but... yeah... might have to bite the bullet and install...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carrying a kayak WITHOUT a roof rack.

Pulled the plastic threaded plugs out of the roof strut mount locations. They seem fairly beefy. It would be easy enough to replace them with a pair of eye bolts (probably on the lower mounts, the ones on the camper, vs the roof, for security) as tie in points for the kayak. If I had snap links...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carrying a kayak WITHOUT a roof rack.

Lots of miles/trips. It's a white water boat so probably a bit to deep to stack on the side of a vehicle I'm afraid. Good tips on the strut mounts. I'll have a look and make some inquiries.

That's a great suggestion. Thanks. I don't have the gas struts and my FWC does have the threaded receivers for the struts. I wonder if I could run a bar between those two spots, bolted to the gas strut locations, and use that for tiedowns. Could do front and rear. Come to think of it, if I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carrying a kayak WITHOUT a roof rack.

Thanks for that. I figured I would tie down directly to the truck. Rear tie down to the trailer hitch. Front either to under the hood (not ideal) or maybe better wrap around the front of the camper and underneath and down to the truck bed. Would have to detach to lift camper roof- bit of a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carrying a kayak WITHOUT a roof rack.

Would this sort of foam block set up, directly on the roof, be okay or would it have any chance of damaging the camper? My kayak is a whitewater boat, only weights roughly 30 pounds, maybe a 35 with some of the gear (throw rope, water bottle, yada yada) inside. I bought the camper used and...
