RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Math - calculating the needs of a DC Fridge (or What's Wrong with my CR65?)

Guys this has been super helpful. Thank you. One note, a huge off grid solar nerd told me that in off grid situations the 77% derate factor should be 60%. Yikes! I'm off to Baja tomorrow as is. Guess if all else fails, I'll drink warm Tecate. Had I know this thing was such a hog I would...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Math - calculating the needs of a DC Fridge (or What's Wrong with my CR65?)

the Sunsaver charge controller has built in meters to measure voltage, current, temp, etc. It does not measure watt-hours created (from the solar array). It _could_ measure watt-hours consumed (ie: Fridge) if I wired the fridge to the "load" on the controller instead of to the battery. I may...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Math - calculating the needs of a DC Fridge (or What's Wrong with my CR65?)

My 2001 Granby had a broken 3-way fridge. I replaced it with a Waeco Fridge powered by a 185-watt solar. And it doesn't work. Let's review: Fridge: uses 576 watt hours per day I installed a Waeco CR65 (after reading a number of threads). The CR65 claims to use about 1.9amp-hours/hour on...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Bill's FWC Hawk build.

Yikes, sorry about the finger accident. Quick question: (and feel free to keeo the answer brief since you are probably typing one handed still)... Did FWC advise that 120-watts was enough solar for the fridge you have? I ask because I installed the same fridge in my Granby and have a 185-watt...

so, adding to this thread... Just installed a WAECO CR-1065E/F-S 2.3 CU FT; and so far am scratching my head at the power consumption. I'm using two Optima Blue Top (I think they are 50 amp-hours a piece, so 100 Amp-Hours), and a Sharp NT-185 solar panel. A Morningstar Charge controller...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Real Time Help - Mounting Grandy for first time

OK, so... How much of the floor is wood? And how much is the aluminum skelaton? I mean, is there any way to bolt through the floor and try to grab part of the aluminum?

great help guys. I measured three times, and installed camper... and the offset wasn't enough. Balls. I'll shorten the turnbuckles for now. The rear eye bolts have very little room due to where the fender well comes up. I'm thinking of also doing permanent mounting bolts through the floor...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Real Time Help - Mounting Grandy for first time

that helps. Would about side to side? I would think I want them outboard just a bit? After noodling on this... and also thinking about the painter's tape idea for loading (strip of tape on the camper strip of tape on the bed)... I figure I can find the mid point of the owner's truck, measure...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Real Time Help - Mounting Grandy for first time

I found a Grandby. Going to pick it up this afternoon. Owners are an older couple. I _think_ it's an early 2000s... though it could be a late 1990's model. Anyway, I plan to show up with my Dodge Long Bed and take this thing away. Problem is, after reading the manual from the Four Wheel...

Ah, a fit-guide. Thanks for posting that before I drove 500 miles to find a need a sawzall to make a granby fit in my 1994 Dodge 2500. Apparently I have an oddball truck with an odd shaped bed (my truck is very embarrassed). I think my dreams of an older low cost Granby may be dashed. In...

my guess would be a ranger kinda like an eagle but longer for a long box compact pickup Ah... right. Well, perhaps someone on here with a compact pick'm'up might find it useful. In other news... what is the aprox value of a fixer upper? say, mid 1980's Granby FWC. $1500? or closer to...

Can anybody identify this camper? Seller thinks it is a 1995... but unsure what model it is. http://stockton.craigslist.org/rvs/3727739387.html i'm looking to fit it on a 1994 Dodge Ram Long Bed... but the wings that hang down tell me it probably won't fit.
