RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Won't Ignite - Help Please

Pizzo Not Sparking The outcome of this problem was that, for whatever reason, the Pizzo device is not creating any spark. The good news is that the propane flow is just fine. So I was able to light the pilot manually while my wife pushed down on the gas button inside the camper. Stan said it is...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Won't Ignite - Help Please

Not yet -- right now having to deal with Tom and Chicali on arranging repair for the black strap which broke off the back panel. One problem at a time. Having warm beer is a small problem compared to having the roof fall down on your head. :( But thank you for asking.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Won't Ignite - Help Please

Hi Pat - I did not have the propane tank purged when it was initially filled. So if it contained clogging gunk, it apparently took several weeks to emerge. But I believe you did mention that could happen.

Stan -- appreciate the response and as you guessed, I have been doing all of the above (except verifying the spark). The propane flow to the furnace and stove is fine. In my e-mail to you I mentioned that the number of required clicks on the ignitor was steadily increasing, and during each...

Great information! :thumb: So, it does need to be a team effort if using the butane lighter solution. The relighter also looks like a reasonably simple mod. Sorry that I did not make the connection in my prior searches. I also wondered about the idea discussed in the thread, of driving with the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Won't Ignite - Help Please

The panel box on mine does not look like this -- except for the burner box and flue tube which are identical but on the opposite end of the box. It has a brass cutoff valve for the gas, but not the power source selector or ignitor button like in this photo. On mine, those are on the front of the...

pvstoy -- do I need to be pressing the red safety valve button while lighting the burner area? Ted -- thank you, but, as far as I can tell, the flame area for the fridge is only accessible from the outside of the camper, in the burner box behind the side panel.

Lighter In Burner Hole? So it's OK to insert a flame into the covered hole on the burner box? But how do you do that and press the safety valve button on the front of the unit at the same time? Is it a team effort, or do you not need to do that when lighting this way?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Norcold Fridge Won't Ignite - Help Please

Hello All, Fifth week with the brand new Hawk and now the fridge won't light. Originally took 20 presses of the ignitor, then about 70. Thursday night, I gave up after about 2000 presses (not all in one session). Propane not the issue; stove and furnace work just fine. Not thrilled to kick off...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Things you've learned the hard way

My contributions to date for this subject are: 1. It wouldn't hurt to put a small sign or placard on both the rear panel and the front brace that reads: DOOR OPEN? 2. Don't pull on the rear panel black strap when lowering the back end. :o

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camper rear door entry

Hello G, It has been no problem for me. And I have a portapotti stashed in the space twixt the couch and the door. I'm 6'1" 210lb and haven't noticed any obstruction (contorting myself to attach/remove turnbuckles is another matter). ;) I do however use a short folding stepladder for entry...

I did go through the threads and had not seen one about choosing a drill per se. At least not in the FWC owners forum anyway. Sorry if I did wrong. Old Man Grumpus

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Broken Strap on Rear Panel

So this weekend when I was lowering the back end of my Hawk, I made the mistake of grabbing the black strap on the rear panel instead of the knob that it wraps around, and the rivet popped out and richocheted around the interior before you could say DOH! :o I was left holding the strap, as it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Cordless Drill With Reico Mechanical Jacks

I bought a cordless drill which somewhat sped up the process of raising and lowering the camper on the Reico mechanical jacks. :thumb: But, it didn't quite have the gumption to git 'er done all the way. It's still a nice drill, so I don't want to return it, but, can anyone advise: What is the...

Hallelujah! THANK YOU Brett13 and all the other contributors!! :thumb: That is brilliant. Just this afternoon I was putting the camper on again for the weekend, and there were three clockwise and one counterclockwise. I thought, what the hell? How can that be? Now I know why. It must now be...

Turnbuckle Overtightening Thank you DLN and Tim -- it sounds like trial and error is the consensus so far. I only became concerned because one time a buckle was quite tight, and I had to reef on it both ways to finally determine whether I was loosening or further tightening it. The reason...

Turnbuckle Meltdowns Thanks Tim - you phrased the problem much more simply than I did. I always turn the wrong way first. But I don't understand what you are saying for your solution. Pull down on the lower end? How would that help? Especially when they are already attached? If Tim is away...

Hello Everyone, These threads have been very helpful for initiating me to my new Hawk. Stan has usually been quick to respond to my questions but he must be busy now so I thought I would post to the group. I have a dorky question about the turnbuckles. It seems like every time I go to...
