RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Cost to maintain and own a FWC? Realistically...

The warranty for the Dometic 3 way fridge states that a factory authorized service center must do a cleaning/check up after the first year to maintain the burner and honor the two year warranty. I paid $70 bucks to have the orifice and the burner cleaned. I now know how to do it myself so I do...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fiberglass Siding vs Regular on Hawk

Way easier to clean off the bug splatter! My old camper had the aluminum and the white coating was starting to get thin in places. With my new camper, I keep it reasonably waxed and I just have to hit it with high powered water and the bugs come right off.

Be careful. The older style Tundras are definately suseptible to bent frames. Not sure about the second and third generation Tundras. First generation had a "C" channel rear frame that when over stressed would bend between the cab and the box. I bent my '06 frame on the road between San...

Tomas, You are correct. I actually mis spoke. There are flat bar clamps that are bolted together. I sheared one of those bolts. Luckily, the lower bar was dangling down and I didn't lose it. I replaced those bolts with some grade 8 bolts. Thanks for the more exact discription, Costa

Sunman, Just a tad of frame rub at full hard over turn. Really very little. Only when the camper is heavy. As mentioned by Ed, the offset is important because it allows the tire to clear the upper A arm. No interference on the fenders at all. Costa

Thanks for the Welcome! Thanks to all the active members for their warm welcomes. For anyone interested in doing the old style tundra and kestral combo I am very happy with the suspension set up I modified. I have Donahoe coilovers in the front dialed to give 2.5 inches of lift combined with...

Greetings everyone. I just discovered this killer web site and I had to join. I have a 2006 Tundra 4x4 that I modified to carry a Kestral FWC. My wife and I travel all over California and Baja. We have taken our rig to the tip twice and have done lots of other deep Baja trips surfing...
