I have a couple of cracked plastic covers on my Atwood manual jacks. Unable to find any replacements online - everyone indicates out of stock, and the sense I get is that Atwood is out of business. Anyone have a potential source? Otherwise, I'll have to fabricate something myself. Thanks,

OK, I feel like an idiot, but that was the problem. I had the power wire plugged into the back of the meter in the "relay" slots. They look just like the slots on the shunt. Thank you Vic for saving me from replacing this!

Perhaps the 712 is different, but mine only has a power (+) wire and the RJ cable. The only other plug on the back of the display is for the dongle. I presume that the ground is one of the wires in the RJ. Am I missing something?

My BMV-700 appears to be dead. Was working fine last fall. I definitely have power to it (checked fuse, actually measured voltage), have checked the 3-pair cable (and tried three different cables, checked the continuity on them as well). Have tried a reset according to the manual. Nothing...

Although expensive, I bought a Redarc DC-DC charger that handles both solar and alternator inputs. Mine limits the input to 60A. Haven't actually tried it yet, still getting installed.

Nope, just my regular laptop. I logged in this morning and posted this thread, just came back this evening and had to log in again. No OS upgrades or anything. As mentioned, I did recently change my password and am using LastPass, so maybe that has something to do with it?

OK, possibly problem solved. I was crawling about under the truck today to look closer at wiring, and moved the power wires a bit and ZAP - clearly a short, started the insulation on fire even. Pretty scary. Obviously blew the fuse, so it has been doing it's job. This also probably explains...

In the FAQ it says these can be used "in the 50 states and international waters around the US." Would be nice if it worked in other places (Canada, Mexico). Maybe it does, but I could not find that info anywhere.

Pretty smoky in lots of places up here right now. Highway between Whitehorse and Dawson is bad in places - there is one big fire within a couple miles of the road. Lots of fires and smoke over in Alaska. Good website for smoke prediction in Canada is firesmoke.ca which predicts smoke patterns...

Tip here: get a step drill to make holes bigger than about 1/8" in thin sheet metal (aluminum or steel). Much safer and cleaner holes. You can buy a set of three of them at Harbor Freight for maybe $10. Less if on sale. Useful to drill a small pilot hole with a regular twist drill in many cases.

Wow, I was (blissfully?) unaware of this problem. I carry the InReach in my airplane. Makes me wonder how well the "SOS" button would work if needed..... Fortunately I have a 406 PLB as well, but certainly now I will count on that more than the InReach.
