RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cigarette plugs

I have a couple of things that run off of the standard "cigarette plug" outlet in my vehicles. Most of the plugs (male parts) are garbage and don't work very well. Has anyone found a source of better quality plugs that could be used to replace the crappy ones that come standard with most things?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any all terrain campers in Alberta/BC?

Mine is currently in Atlin BC until late August if you want to come look. Shell and heater/stove are ATC but the rest of the interior I built out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC wiring upgrade for Lithium

I'll chime in on this. I built my own battery from cells so I could mount it outside the camper and maximize storage inside (the battery is flat on the front of the ATC). I used #6 wire from the truck battery to the camper, 50A fuse adjacent to the truck battery. Mounted on the side of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Talk me out of a 2.7 Ecoboost

I have an ATC Cougar on a 2015 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Currently at about 90k miles. I've had to get the throttle body replaced once (just past warranty of course) as well as a couple of computer chips. Mostly minor but aggravating. Not as reliable as my old Tacoma. That said, the 3.5...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Telemark Turns at Timberline

Ah, memories. I recall my first tele "race" at Copper Mountain CO using wooden Bonna skis and floppy leather boots. Many backcountry expeditions on those old skis as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Interior Pics of ATC Cougar?

I have a cougar but probably won't help as I built it out from a shell that had only the furnace and cooktop in the back corner. But you're welcome to come visit and look if you want to take the trip. I'm up in Sequim in WA.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC in Washington

I'm in Sequim and have an ATC if you want to come look. Perhaps a bit far from Seattle for an easy trip but you're welcome to come over if it fits your need. Caveat is that I got a basic shell with the furnace and stovetop and built out the interior myself. But you could have a look at the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting a Propane tank on rear ext. wall ?

Pretty simple to build a bracket like the Overland one. I have a buddy who has two on his camper (one each side of the door) and it is easy to switch between tanks with a valve in the center.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where are some good places to buy solar panels?

I've had good interactions with Unbound Solar (used to be Wholesale Solar) out of Mt. Shasta CA. Employee owned, good customer service.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Common ATC Customizations

Cells are behind the plywood. I was thinking I put plexi over the whole thing but after pulling it off the truck yesterday, remembered that it is plywood. Plexi would certainly work. There is no access when it is on the truck, and one would have to pull the plywood panel off to get to the...

Dunno how to attach pics, but here is a pdf of the front of my camper with the battery box.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Crossing the US - Canadian Border on Aug 26

Glad somebody got across. We've tried twice and both times the covid test did not get returned in the required 72 hours. Drove to the border and waited until time was up, turned around and drove home for lack of a test. One time got a notice at exactly 72 hours that "the tests will be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Common ATC Customizations

How do you mount the Li cells flat, and where outside? I put them in front of the camper. Built a box using a few pieces of cut down 2x4 (cut to the width of the cells, just over 1.5") for the sides of the box. The back of the box is just the front of the camper. I then put a plexiglas cover...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Common ATC Customizations

A bit late to this party, but my input is to try to use every available space. A couple of things that allow this are to 1) move the propane tank to the outside rear of the camper, which frees up the propane space for other storage; 2) build your own cabinetry to suit your needs (this may be a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New gray wolf pack in Plumas County

Certainly unpopular with me. I think the livestock industry (particularly cattle) are ruining our public lands and have been for decades. And the government (that is us, the owners) are subsidizing it by low to non-existent grazing fees along with little to no oversight. I'd be much happier...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West $500 to $600 camper fridge?

We have a Truckfridge that I built into our ATC. Seems to work fine and not a lot of power draw. The compressor is, however, noisy at times (especially at night trying to sleep). I added an extra layer of 1" foamboard around the sides and top.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford ECO boost fuel MPG or other feedback

I think most of the comments are pretty much spot on. We have a 2015 F150 with extended cab and an 8' ATC on it. 3.5L Ecoboost. Lollygagging along at 55 mph on two-lane roads, I can get 21 mpg. On freeways I usually run about 67 mph and get around 16-17 mpg. Anything faster and the mileage...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Canada border

Excuse the rant, but this blanket border closure to everyone absolutely sucks. We have a cabin in northern BC that has now been sitting unattended since September of 2019. The government should allow property owners to at least access our property for maintenance and repair, especially since...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overland Solar MPPT controller compatibility with Li

I use a Redarc controller. Handles both solar and alternator power. Not particularly cheap, but very robust.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Not sure about all terrain campers

I can't speak to the shell version, but I have been very pleased with my ATC Cougar (on an F150). Got it in 2015 with only a furnace and stovetop and built out the rest myself. Marty and the crew were more than happy to help me by providing countertop material to match what was already in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Temporary tie down of fwc

I use the torklift frame mounts on the front mount of my camper. I drilled an extra hole in the jack bracket (because I didn't want to enlarge the jack bracket holes) that is large enough for the hook of the torklift.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Torklift Camper Mounting

It has done well for 5 years now. I like the ease of taking off the turnbuckles without having to deal with the internal ones. I have put a bit of foam material on the turnbuckles because I have the Ford "suicide doors" that open backwards and would get dented if they hit the turnbuckles very...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Torklift Camper Mounting

I have torklifts on the front of my ATC. Drilled an extra (needs to be slightly larger than the jack bolt) hole in the jack brackets to accommodate one end of the tiedown hook. I made custom tiedowns for the back.

I'm following this with interest. Nice to have the photos rather than trying to visualize what you are doing. Also nice to have a couple of those links to parts suppliers.
