RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Check my turnbuckle-ology for an upgrade

I've done the same thing. Lock nut on both sides of the turnbuckle. No issues on my end.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rig Build with FWC Hawk

Got the electrical components turned the right way. It was a very tight fit to get all of these big components into this small compartment, but I added a little extra storage space next to the battery that will likely be used for hand tools to keep handy in the camper.

Thats good to know and makes sense. Will do that today as I'd like that compartment to stay as cool as possible. Thank you for the heads up with this! Will report back when the objective has been completed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West most efficient 12v fan?

We use a couple of these each night and charge them while we drive. Very powerful and great battery life. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PZBVLC7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 In my vans, I usually use these fans. Soft blades so nothing to hurt anyone:

Had the 3.5L eco-boost in my van that was fully built out. It was a fantastic motor with gobs of power!

Got the smart shunt and DCDC installed this weekend and will be wiring up the battery today. I've fit just about as much as I can in the electrics cabinet at this point and plan to keep it cool with a fan as well. We plan on hitting the road this week for about four weeks so I will update with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Eagle - Cable capacity - DCDC charger upgrade

I am finishing up my DCDC install today and am running all new 6awg wiring from the battery of the truck to the charger and bypassing any of the camper electrics. Your Iota is likely not suited to properly charge your new lithium battery to its fullest potential so you may want to look into...

Got an AC installed this weekend with some inspiration from jdavis on here. I swapped the exterior supports from his so that they would help hold the weight of the AC. All-in-all, an easy project for camping in the Southeast when power is available!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk shell AC and Table install

Thanks. I figured thats what you did, but was curious if maybe it stayed there full time. I built mine yesterday and will finish it today. I decided on eye-bolts for the interior for easy deployment. Good idea on the insulation for vibrations. Will add that to my list.

Been a while since I posted in here but I am back with more questions! We leave for a multi-month trip in a few weeks and last on my list is wiring a Victron DC-DC charger to my battery from my truck's battery. I bought the isolated charger so I am going from truck battery directly to camper...

How do you take the AC mount off of the window? Going to be building mine this weekend!

I got the Rhino-Rack crossbars installed on the truck yesterday. Pretty simple to install following the supplied install instructions. I have a Rhino-Rack Pioneer platform that I am going to cut to size to make a custom, small platform to attach recovery gear. I will begin that today and explain...

Here is a picture of the camper on the truck finally! I am going to build the roof rack for the front of the cab today, but rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week here so I likely won't install till next week.

Thanks guys, it was indeed the ground coming from the camper. I just got a long piece of 2-wire romex and ran it from the camper wiring to my truck's battery to test the lights. No issues when connected directly to battery so I had the ground wrong. I'm thinking I am just going to install a...

I am going to run a wire directly to battery to ensure that the lights work on the camper. Thanks for the idea to test. It could be my 7-pin outlet not powering on because there is nothing hooked up to it technically. Does the black wire from the camper wiring need to be grounded regardless if...

I can't get my running lights to power on my camper. I feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle. Am I correct in my understanding that all I need to do is connect the green wire coming from the camper to a powered line that runs my truck's running lights? Why is the gauge so big for just a...

I followed the write-up here to install an awning I had from one of my previous overland builds onto my Hawk. Its a small awning but enough for two of us to sit under to hide from the sun sometimes! Its mounted over one of the passive vents to my fridge but I am not concerned about that. These...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rig Build with FWC Hawk

I am hooking up my truck running lights to the camper and know the green wire coming from the camper is for those lights. I connected a 10 or 12 gauge wire to the FWC wire which is an 8 I believe and ran that to my running light connection. Any reason why I would need to pull that cable and run...

Thats a good idea too. I thought for $16 it was worth it to not have to constantly readjust the table as we'll likely always leave it up and at its highest position.

Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00207ULIC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Notice that the price of two is much more than just buying two singles. Why? No idea.

I also noticed the table for the front dinette liked to wiggle down and lower as its swiveled to and fro. So I ordered a couple of metal collars to prevent the table from moving past the point the collar is set to. A simple hack, but I imagine will be nice to have when in the camper for weeks on...
