RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Shake Down Of Robert

We took ole Robert out for her Maiden voyage this past weekend (10-10-09). The plan was to do a quick and easy overnighter in Morro Bay at the Strand, a CA State park. We drove down HWY 1 from our house all the way through Big Sur into Morro Bay. Even without the new springs, the Taco handled...

if any of you grew up with my dad, you would be as paranoid as me, too. he taught me to lock it up and keep the innocent innocent. I dont live in a bad area, and to my knowledge there are no meth heads around. as for the law??? I will keep my old latch and fix it if i get a ticket.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Birth Of Robert

I live in Santa Cruz, California. Cold here is a rare 30 degrees, and that is rare. I don't usually go to cold places other than along the coast line and usually the cold there is because of fog, rain/mist or wind. So, I am not worried about my locks freezing up. Call it paranoid, but I don't...

I don't know Stan. I know he has responded to a few of my threads nicely. Anyone could clearly see in my signature that I was getting an ATC not a FWC and Stan did not hesitate to help, with his opinion when I asked questions and advise to the board. That said, I have never met nicer people then...

Well, after a bit of driving around. I am going to replace the springs (coils in front and leafs in back) because the Taco is hitting the bump stops (?). I had put the super springs on hoping that would be good enough, but with all the extras I had put on the camper, it weighs over 800 lbs. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Birth Of Robert

We went out and bought all kinds of stuff to equip our camper yesterday. Rei sold us a stackable cook set, and a nice dog bed. Valerie did not like our old chairs so we bought some coleman ones that look like director chairs but are normal size chairs. they have a little tray on the side for...

Well yesterday I made the long travel from Santa Cruz to Sacramento to pick up our Bobcat. It was a non eventful trip up, no rush hour traffic and with my GPS navigating for me no wrong turns. Although, with out my old camper shell and tailgate, the Taco felt like a sports car. Once at ATC, the...

Whoa guys slow down. I was intending this thread to be a fun, open topic to vent on, not charge against each other. We're here for fun things like sharing our camper and camping stories. Lets have a group hug for a moment, eh?.............. now isn't that better? I had the problem with my Vista...

I have three computers at home. One is an old lap top that still works, windows xp, it just takes a long time to do it. A second one is an Apple. Very nice, but isn't compatible with all my needs from a computer. The third is a nice HP lap top from Costco, but it has Windows Vista. I am not a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Snug Top Camper Shell

Well, I got rid of it yesterday. A local surfboard shaper wanted it, so he is shaping a board for me in trade. The shape and glass job for the board wont cost him much at all, but a new custom board would cost me $500 to $600. And if it works for the north swells in the winter, priceless...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Snug Top Camper Shell

Two more weeks until I get my camper. So now I am down to $300.00 bucks or best offer. Some local kid asked if I would trade my camper shell for his new surf board. I said yes, because at least I can store that while I try to store it, but he flaked. Something about surfers, you know?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nother Camper Mod

Even though my campers birthday is not until October 2, I am thinking of a small mod for it. I was thinking on painting a 4" to 6" strip down both sides and back matching my Tacoma green. What do you think? Customize it to my Taco!

Darn, I must be going senile. I thought I just posted this, yet I cant find it anywhere. I need some advice. Do you remove the light bulb from your brake light above the cab of your truck when you have your camper on, or does it make that big of a difference. I am thinkin of removing mine so I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pett Vs. Wet

Craig, I like that Thetford enzyme stuff instead of the old electric blue goo. Since I am stuck with what I got currently, I may as well make the best of it. Besides, I like kissing my knees.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pett Vs. Wet

Seeing how much the Pett toilet and bags cost, I will have to save up for it. In the mean time, we do have a Coleman flushing port a potti. The storage will be the only issue. The Coleman is big, the Pett is small.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pett Vs. Wet

Ok, even though the topic has probably been beat to death, I will keep this question short, mabey make it a poll? What seems to be a better toilet and why, Pett style vs. porta potti's (the kind with liquid that you flush)?
