RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 12 Volt A/C

Seems still the bottom line is to be on shore power to run A/C.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yakima Boxes for the Four Wheel Campers

I carry a 13' kayak on the right side and have a Yakima Basketcase on the rear left side. Originally my FWC installed solar panel was centered on the roof between the Yakima tracks. I have reoriented my panels, I added a second, so they fit long side front to back on the roof and biased to the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar controller as battery health indicator?

I have a ViewStar controller and one of it's readout is kWh given per day, month, and total so there's no resetting necessary to much output received each day.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Monitoring (Trimetric) charging new battery with Renogy Flex panel after 15 hour Fridge discharge

I have two flexible Renogy panel on elevated mounts. Renogy recommends at least 1/2" between the panel and mounting surface. My goals were weight reduction while increasing charging capacity.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Just ordered my FWC Fleet! Have couple questions for y'all.

We also opted for a PETT toilet and WAG bags and have a privacy shelter but rarely use it. We also carry Little John urinals mainly for the middle of the night. My wife has a Lady J adapter for the Little Johns.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lasers to recharge remotely using photovoltaic cells

My buddy is head of Office of Naval Research. He posted this article on Facebook today. If nothing else, those pesky drones could be kept flying indefinitely. http://futureforce.navylive.dodlive.mil/2015/08/recharge-remotely/

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West "Smart" brand lithium battery - drop in replacement (?)

I'm not sold yet, or should say not buying yet. If I've read correctly there's a 4 to 6 times cost differential but not an equivalent increase in battery life. If the lead acid batteries are lasting 5 years, then any lithium battery I purchase should be the last one I ever purchase in my life...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eagle and 'city water'

Connecting to shore water is the only system I haven't tried, but guess I should to see how/make sure it works. I have the pressure regulator. Whenever shore water is available I top off the water tank before leaving instead of connecting directly.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Stove

Guess I'm piling on for the stove side. We mostly cook outside. But the inside stove provides alternatives for bad weather, arriving late or departing early. We normally make coffee & hot chocolate inside before going out in the morning. It's a really good nice to have.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many charging amps from IOTA?

What I've read is very mixed about whether or not to use an equalization charge on an AGM battery so I can only go by my experience. My Exide batteries are almost 3 years old and have always been connected to a solar controller that delivers an equalization charge every 28 days. My camper is...

Everything you mentioned plus more is all in or on top of my FWC Grandby except the bikes and they go on a Yakima Swingdaddy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West operating cost, 3/4 ton vs 1 ton

See the last sentence below about temporary versus permanent mounting. Pickup (CVC §471) A motor truck with a manufacturer's GVWR of less than 11,500 pounds and an unladen weight of less than 8,001 pounds, which is equipped with an open box-type bed less than nine feet in length. Pickup truck...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West operating cost, 3/4 ton vs 1 ton

My 2013 Chevy 3500 with diesel has an unladen weight of 7,600 lbs. The 2500 weight about the same. I'm just under 5 tons with camper and gear. Cost to register in CA for the coming year is $603. If you choose to convert to a non-commercial registration because of the camper in the back, you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Hawk Weight - Self Contained

This is my configuration except on the 3500 for pretty much the same reason, interior room and shorter wheelbase. We like it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many charging amps from IOTA?

All the IQ4 does is make the Iota DSL-30 function like a smart charger when plugged into shore power. It will operate like a solar controller with bulk, boost, float, and equalization charges. It varies the voltage to the battery based on the charge phase.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC ceiling storage?

We've had similar experience after almost 3 years of use. We have a front dinette Grandby without a cassette toilet or inside shower. Over time we have taken things out that originally thought were needed. We've also replaced some items with things that fit better in the storage available and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Forward Dinette AC Solution

I have a front dinette with the propane high on the right rear with access from the side. My door is off center biased to the driver's side. The off center is caused by a difference in cabinet depth from driver's side to passengers side. The cabinets are slightly deeper on the passenger side...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar panel wiring

I've read Handy Bob's stuff and most of the stuff here. All I'm saying from real world experience is it's not worth rewiring a camper from the 12 gauge wire FWC uses to a larger gauge. If I'm starting from scratch then sure run 8 or 10 gauge wire. Bottom line is 200W with a 20 or 30 amp PWM...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Forward Dinette AC Solution

If you get a cassette toilet this is where it goes. If not, it becomes extra storage. It might be possible if you could mount the A/C so the long dimension was vertical instead of horizontal. Might be possible if the propane box was repositioned to the floor and accessed from the rear of the...
