We have been full time in our Hawk since July. Zero complaints thus far. We have the roll over couch and have stealth camped with the top down in areas/neighborhoods when we need to break up the drive and the camping is too expensive and/or prohibited.

FWIW I'm airing up a bit after doing some reading on E rated tires. Seems like I've been putting a bit too much strain on the side walls for standard driving. 47F/53R for now but will still air down based on the situation...guessing I'll drop back to low 40's for parts of baja next week.

Yep...full-ish time in a Hawk! I do believe they will go back to trailing something after their initial plan for baja and who knows where else. For now they really want the go-anywhere flexibility of the FWC. These kids are road-life experts so I think they have a good chance of pulling it...

That does sound like a good setup. Since they are going for a shell I wonder if they could build out a larger front dinette to accommodate two kids on a converted dinette and the adults and little one up top.

Hi WTW! This past week we met an awesome family (2 adults + 3 children + 1 cat) traveling in an Airstream since 2008. The crazy part is they are planning to downsize to a FWC Hawk!!! Love it! They are currently on their way to Woodland, CA to order a Hawk shell and build out the interior...

Nice!!! We toyed with getting a hitch mounted gear rack that flips up. Thought we could mount a jerry can to it and keep the rack locked in the upright (flipped-up) position to block the door. Wouldn't be nearly as nice as your option though.
