RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Southern Utah - September 2016

Excellent trip report Bill. I was there at the same time as you and saw what you did, but I'll admit that your pictures are much better than mine. Great to see what a good photographer can do.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Manx

The brackets came in the kit with the solar panel from Zamp. Once drilled for the correct spacing, they bolt through the underside of the panel's frame. The underside of the frame is much wider than the top so there is lots of room to drill the bolt holes. I bolted the brackets to the roof...

Thanks for the comments on the camper interior build. The LP system was certified this past week so now it's time to start the fun of using it. We'll be out for some 2 and 3 day trips to for the next little while before heading to Utah for 3 weeks in September. Got our permit for the White Rim...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Manx

Made a little more progress this weekend. Stove and sink installed. Built a light weight slide for the port potty. Used some 3/4" aluminum L to make a guide Made a small drawer that slides on upholstery fabric glued to the bottom with a small bolt latch to lock the P/P in place while...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Roof Question

Good to hear this. When I ordered my ATC, the only thing I couldn't get that FWC could do was the smooth roof. I liked it purely for the appearance as I don't mind resealing the roof screws every couple of years. It looks from Doug's experience, the resealing isn't needed for a lot longer than...

You're probably right. We're going to try to resist the temptation of adding "stuff" though. A year from now we will know how successful we have been. A couple of pictures from this weekends progress. Countertop on the storage compartment. Seat cushions done and table finished.

I'm a certified amateur at all of this build, but it sure has been a fun project. Re the cabinet shelves: Because we will be continuing to use our backpacking kitchen equipment in the camper, every bit of it easily fits in the one drawer my wife wanted. I like your idea but we have been living...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Manx

Lost a month fixing the house and yard after a water line break under the foundation. That was an ugly job. Really glad to be back in the shop today. This is the way it was left. Fridge in and countertop in postion. Stove goes next to fridge. Laminate to install yet. Dinette with table...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Distance between top of cab and bottom of cabover?

I would agree with Stalking Light. 2" is too low if you plan on off pavement use. I set mine to 3" and it seems to be about as close as I would want it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What is the best brand of battery?

In a "best AGM RV battery" thread I'm surprised that Trojan hasn't been mentioned. Although I am a noob when it comes to RV batteries, I have heard many times over the years that Trojan is a preferred product. Have they been surpassed by the other premium brands now?

I'm in Kelowna and have been exploring southern BC's backroads for over 20 years. If I can help with any local information about things to see and camp spots off the beaten path, give me a PM. Have a great trip!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Campers - Smaller For Solo Trips

The Phoenix Geo-Den looked good from the outside. Tapered sides and rounded corners with a weight of 570 lbs. Unfortunately though, it as well as the FWC Cajita, had a less than inspiring interior layout.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Campers - Smaller For Solo Trips

No problem, didn't come across as snarky to me. The top extrusion which is much heavier than the standard 1" aluminum tube (seen below on my camper) is stuffed with wood and could be eliminated as well as the thick plywood over the cab where the mattresses go. The 3 mattresses and the pull-out...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Campers - Smaller For Solo Trips

I have a Tacoma I use as a run around daily driver and was thinking it would be the perfect truck to build a light weight solo camper onto for the trips when my wife can't came along. I'm retired so I spend a lot of time exploring on my own. A NCO type FWC/ATC style pop-up should be light...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maintenance On Our ATC Camper

Thanks Marty. The bed liner makes sense for a flat deck. I'll apply silicone sealant to the 4 mounting holes to keep moisture out when I reinstall the camper in a few weeks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maintenance On Our ATC Camper

Confidence inspiring to read your post ski3pin. I don't even have paint on the bottom of the camper, it looks more like a spray on bed liner type material to me. I guess that it won't need any attention so it looks like just cleaning it up after each trip and some 303 treatment after it's first...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Manx

Thanks for the comments. It was great to finally see the camper on the truck. I installed it so I could do the drilling for the mounting bolts. The ones that deserve the credit for how well things turned out are All Terrain Campers and Aqualu Industries who built the deck. Both companies did a...
