RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Five Day's till the Hawk, F250 2017 2x. On and OFF

What works best for the wife and I is to have her sitting in the drivers seat while I stand right outside the drivers door. I direct her to back up slowly while I reach in through the open door window and turn the steering wheel accordingly. From my position of standing outside the door provides...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED bulb for porch light

The bulb in your porch light should be a common 1156 automotive bulb. That’s an easy conversion to a LED unit, most auto parts store will have it. You can also google 1156 to LED and get numerous responses. I think the porch light is also a common piece at most camper dealers and parts...

Awesome setup! Like you we ordered our Hawk without the refrigerator or ice box and use a portable Truckfrige. The storage space where the ice box/fridge should be is invaluable. My wife has claimed that space as her own. Enjoy!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West propane consumption

Very coincidental topic for me. Last week my wife and I got caught in a snow storm in Salida Colorado and had to camp at a local campground for two nights and one day. One of the nights the temp dropped to 18 degrees and I was positive the propane tank was going to run dry in the middle of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Research on PopUp Campers

If your going to be in Colorado to visit the Hallmark and Oufitter factories I'd suggest you make the short drive down to Denver and see Chris at Rocky Mountain Four Wheel Campers. We made that drive from Omaha 5 years ago and visited all three places. We loved the 4W Campers because of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lesson Learned with Use of the TF-51 Truckfridge

We purchased our truckfridge about 3 years ago based on the positive reviews they received on this site. It's usually strapped down in the back of the Jeep as we bounce down the trail. I've been concerned about the abuse it's taken but so far no issues. I did receive the E-1 code once and in a...

I think this is the thread you were looking for. It appears the porch light switch needs to be exercised occasionally. I replaced my incandescent porch light with an LED equivalent bulb and it was a nice upgrade...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

My truck is a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500, regular cab 4X4, 5.3 V-8 and tow package. The gross vehicle weight rating is 6400 pounds with the truck alone weighing 5000 pounds. This give me a payload of 1400 pounds. I believe my truck has a slightly lower payload rating because of the 20 inch sport...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

I thought I'd revive this post and show off our new car trailer. We were having swaying issues with our car dolly when towing the Jeep. Pulling the Jeep's driveshaft every time was also a hassle, so we stepped up to an Aluma 14 ft. car trailer. It weighs 1100 pounds and tows like a dream. Jeep...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ram Truck Not Recommended For Slide In Camper

My friends truck is a regular cab 8 foot bed. After some research it appears the problem is his snow plow package. Apparently Ram attorneys are afraid people will be plowing snow with a camper mounted in the bed. I suppose it's happened, thank goodness there are people to protect us for ourselves.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ram Truck Not Recommended For Slide In Camper

My buddy has a 2011 Ram regular cab 3/4 ton truck and he's been in the market for a slide in camper. While doing research he found a warning sheet in his owners paperwork that says "this vehicle is not recommended for a slide in camper". What could that be all about? This is a big massive 3/4...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Cushions?

I tried this trick as well and it seemed to extract some water out of the cushion and into the bag but it never really pulled any water into the shop vac. My shop vac is a smaller unit and may not have the necessary juice?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Cushions?

I may be in the market for a new seat cushion in our 2015 Hawk. I spilled a cup of coffee on the cushion last week requiring removal and washing of the outer cover. We then made the mistake of washing the foam cushion. It's now been impossible to remove all the water from that foam cushion. We...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exterior Cable TV Inlet

I would like to install this cable TV inlet box on the outside of my Hawk. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/white-tv-inlet-square/82333 My thoughts are to mount this box on the left side of the camper opposite of the cabinets. My question concerns mounting the box to the side of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

In the spring we tow our Jeep to Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah and in August the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. During these events a basic motel room is inflated anywhere between $250 to $300 bucks a night. Now with the Hawk those criminal motel rates are a thing of the past for us.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West To Fridge or not to Fridge?

We ordered our 2015 Hawk without a fridge because on most of our trips we're so busy there is no time for meals at the camper. The extra storage space is a nice benefit. We did purchased a portable Truckfridge for tailgating and longer trips and it works quite well. I recently had the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Custom Build Requests?

Some members may scorn this suggestion but an external and internal cable TV hook up would be nice. Most of our camping is done at established campgrounds that offer cable TV in addition to electricity and water.
