RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Condensation - Roof Vents - windows

Most of our campers are just a giant soda can as far as insulation goes. I think the other thing to consider is, if I'm not mistaken, water is a byproduct of the combustion of propane. No matter what we all have to deal with some water when camping in the cold.

I guess it's better to be safe than sorry although there is a lifetime warranty. I wouldn't want it to ruin my trip. Good to know. I guess it would be good to try it out on a dry trip so it wouldn't be detrimental if it broke.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

I was referring to the bendable solar panels. Sorry for the confusion. My own panels that I have only used for one 17 day trip already have a good amount of scratching and I just have a general worry about how fast these panels may or may not oxidize. I'm guessing significant scratching or...

Fantastic Fan says it is fine to drive with the vent open. They specifically recommend you open the vent completely. Here is the direct link so you have it from the horse's mouth: http://www.fantasticvent.com/fan-tastic-vent-s-faq.html Hope this helps!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

I thought that was you but couldn't remember. My head is spinning getting ready for finals week at school. I'm thinking the most likely cause of failure on these panels will be due to the elements. Once the panels get scratched or oxidized enough they may not produce much power. Thats why I'd...

Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking velcro. I might take the gamble. I read someone else saying they will just glue another panel over the old one if replacement is needed.

Paul I'm doing pretty much the same. What do you lay your panel on when parked in the shade?

Im not sure actually. Seems like it may have some stress that way. Plus you wouldn't have much room inside.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

Good point about the stress on removal. It would have to be a fine line between having enough to hold the panel while little enough for easy removal. I would obviously just get another remote panel and be done but I really don't have enough room to store the panel. I guess I will just have to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

Thanks for the comment. Its just so hard to make space for more stuff in the campers. I wish there was a mathematical way to figure out how much strength is needed to keep the panels held tight. I think it may be worth the risk of trying for me. I can just use a ton of double lock velcro and...

Thanks for keeping us updated! Good to know they are holding up well. I'll be testing my panel again here in a few weeks as well. I'd wait on those batteries as long as you are getting enough amp hours to meet your needs. I can't imagine they would have an instant failure but they should fade...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone thought of going lithium?

Wow. I can't believe how little I know about batteries now. I had no idea the amp hours don't increase when the voltage does. That really does increase the cost. Makes it a much more difficult decision. I think I need to go back and edit some posts about my 2 6-volt golf cart batteries...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone thought of going lithium?

Thanks for the info. I have noticed it seems most of these batteries are made of the tiny a123 cells. Kind of like playing with Legos. Ideally, I'd like to build our buy a battery box that will fit into my stock battery compartment and then configure the most a123 cells possible into a large...

It's a lot harder to justify the cost vs. Wet cell batteries but most with FWC choose the sealed battery route.

They use them in electric vehicles, including the zero dirt bike, so I'm sure they should be fine but I have not come across any specific specifications.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone thought of going lithium?

I was thinking about 4 of these wired in series to make a 400 ah 12.8 volt battery for about $800. I'm trying to find the dimensions but I know it would be lighter and take up less space than 2 golf cart batteries. That's about $300 more but you would get 320 usable amp hours and faster...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone thought of going lithium?

I'm just getting the wheels rolling on this idea but it seems like there are many benefits to going with a lithium battery setup. Less weight Less space Faster charging More capacity More usable amp hours More cycles No need to fully charge for good health Battery nerd points There are some...

I don't know of any other brands but one thing to consider is the shading you get from your roof vents. The panel from global solar is really long and, in my opinion, more likely to catch some shade than a renogy panel or 3 above your cabover section. Just a thought.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What are the best stairs?

I don't like to carry anything I don't have to so I have a hitch step. I also own some accordion stairs but they just take up too much space. I see a lot of people with plastic stairs that are light enough to throw on top of stuff if necessary. I've never seen any stairs with a hand rail but...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

Thanks for the great info. Just to confirm you got the charge to 100% with just the alternator? The solar was disconnected? Another interesting thing for me is how many volts you get from your alternator. No matter what I do I get 13.5 volts at my starting battery and less depending on the...
