RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ACM for roof support panel, hows it holding up?

My son works at a commercial glass business which uses ACM often. They get 4x12 sheets..Enough to do the full camper. I think I was quoted about $300 for the sheet. I got lucky and he acquired enough scrap pieces for me to make complete set for $0! I imagine the stuff I got has the .020 skin...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ACM for roof support panel, hows it holding up?

Not sure if there are different grades, but my ACM panels are doing fine. About how thick are your panels? Without going out and measuring them, I think mine are around .100.

Not sure about Tim's build, but I tucked my headliner up under the roof metal and also tucked the side canvas up under the metal. My original side canvas was on the outside of the roof metal and just the trim sealed it off. I followed Poky's build.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Use sealant when installing sink?

I used a bead of clear caulk after the sink was set in place. Same with the faucet. That's how it's done in kitchens i believe.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1980 FWC Keystone - Getting this old beast up to par.

A walking foot sewing machine is best. I used a Brother commercial machine that wasn't a walking foot. i had problems with bunching, when sewing the 3 materials of the windows, screen, clear plastic and privacy panel. I first tried sewing with the screen side down. When I tried screen side up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West slide out bed help.. supports and screw length?

I have a 79 Grandby, and my aluminum frame isn't like Alley Kat's. I have a window on the front drivers side. On the passenger side I made my support board longer than the drivers side to pick up an aluminum stud. I didn't have any good hardwood on hand to make the supports, so I laminated 2...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie, doing a full teardown of an 80's Keystone

Here's a link to my build thread from last year. http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/13966-1979-granby/ I had had 2 truck campers before doing the build, so I knew what I wanted, and what I didn't want.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Full build - Reconstructing a 1981 Grandby into a custom Hawk!

Looks good Poky! Glad to see you are motivated! I just have some drawers and cabinet doors to make, but lost my motivation. Just had mine on a fishing trip last week and have to say it fit our needs perfectly. I probably spent as many hours sitting in the shell wondering how I wanted to build...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack mount repair

I think you would need to remove the siding and the interior to repair it properly. I rebuilt a 79 Grandby from scratch and tripled up the corners for my jack mounts.Because my wife is handicapped, I have electric jacks and off load the camper when on a site. Maybe overkill on my part, but...

I still have some cabinet doors, and drawers to make for the counter top side, then a couple corner cabinets to make for the passenger side.Got lazy! When you can use the camper as is, it's tough to get motivated again. Here's a bulk fill with a built in vent. JR Products 37525 Fresh Water...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Here's a few pictures. I built a couch that opens into a bed on the right side. On the front end of that I have storage underneath. On the front left you will see I raised that area to accept the water tank, battery and the electric converter. My faucet has a built in switch the activates the...

Tim, Do you have a gravity fill on the outside of the camper? If so, it's just a flap that covers it, and it should be all the vent you need.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

Tim, My water system had nothing like that, and I believe it all original. I think they vented through the outside gravity water fill. My tank didn't have any fitting opening that resembles the threaded portion on the end of the hose either. Could your water system been added after the factory...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West DIY Camper Build From Scratch

That wrinkling at the bottom was a problem for me also. I actually canned my first 2 panels due to that. I started sewing mine with the screen side up and under the foot of the sewing machine. A friends wife explained the problem was possibly due to the different type materials. She suggested I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roofing material for old Granby? mine may not be salvageable..

My roof had some screw holes spider cracking. I just made up small aluminum plates that overlapped the cracked areas, then epoxied them over the cracked portion. I replaced all the screws with the next size up, then used Dicor self leveling caulk on all the screws and the patches. It ain't...
