RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB 1980 - 1999 FWC Keystone

That's a good idea. I also considered having them do a little work on the one we have. But who knows when that could get scheduled... I'm not a young man after all.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB 1980 - 1999 FWC Keystone

Would like to buy FWC Keystone possibly 1980 - 99 in good to excellent shape. We have an F350 with a utility bed that was modified to accept a 1988 Keystone. But that unit is in fairly deteriorated condition. It would be nice to find a similar model and just switch them out. Anything out there?

AZ Nick, Thank you for your reply. But no no no this thing is sweet. It’s not broken. It’s all bone stock. It seems like it’s been in California all it’s life. Possibly even garaged. Nothing is rotten. Everything should be working it just needs just need a little maintenance type of repair...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1988 FWC Keystone, repairs/mods in Los Angeles

Hey philos65, I know you’re right. But the truth is money is not as dear in Los Angeles. I’m busy making money with my business and I’d like this thing done. I can make way more money doing what I do and pay somebody to fix it. Doesn’t make any sense? There is no way I can read up on here...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1988 FWC Keystone, repairs/mods in Los Angeles

We have an ‘88 FWC Keystone. We have extensive repairs and modifications we would like done. Beginning with a new canvas installation. The existing one is actually not bad, but we want one with 2 bigger windows vents on each side. We camp in the desert in warm weather. There is not enough...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC to the frame

A pic from when we were cutting up the utility bed to fit the FWC Keystone. Thought I had more pics to share of the process. But it actually wasn't at all complex like some builds I see online.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC to the frame

That would be very easy. I guess I got caught up during the design phase in worried about flexing and cracking the camper. If we thought it would be okay, maybe mount it that way and just check it often on the first few trips

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC to the frame

I'm trying to envision the 1/4" by 1 1/2 inch clamp. I want to bolt to of the frame because it's a permanent installation and I just don't think turnbuckles are going to work. I don't know how that would work. I believe Stan from FWC said that if bolted to the frame it would be better. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC to the frame

We've been working on this thing for over two years. It's about to be finished. Well it's never finished, but ready to mount the camper. I recall Stan from FWC saying we could bolt it right to the frame. We just might have to open up an interior wall and find a piece of the aluminum camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC to the frame

We've been building a camper for awhile now. I've made sporadic and erratic posts and threads. But now it's ready to bolt the camper to the frame through the utility bed. Thinking 2 steel plates 3" x the width of the camper floor. One over the rear axle, another to the front of the camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Keystone on Utility Bed F-350

After much delay, reworking ideas, and some going backward, I think we're ready to move forward on the installation of a utility bed on our '93 F-350 4x4, 4 door, to accommodate the '88 FWC Keystone. Anyone have thoughts on this? My standard photos are too large to upload, pictures to follow.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Avoiding california 'weight fees' while renewing DMV registration

In California, be very careful if you are registered commercially and you go over 10,000# GVW. They include the trailer weight if you have one. If you are over this weight you will need an overweight sticker, they cost more. These are those 15, 20, 26, etc.....up to 80 stickers that are on...
