RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West If you can only choose one location, where would you place a fan?

Maybe get the remote with your second one. Then you have the best combo overall. your current one in front and the remote one for kitchen, so again, you don’t have to get up to control it. Plus the remote lets you do a little more precise stuff like temperature.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West If you can only choose one location, where would you place a fan?

I wound up with two of them as I like them so much. It would be hard not to have one of them but I would probably do the kitchen/living first and then bed. That is the order I bought mine but did both within a couple weeks of each other. I love the 10 speeds so you can run really quiet if you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Recovery boards

I would support having them near a edge or accessible without having to climb up to get them. Just for thought, my general personal opinion is that high up or on a roof isn’t the best place for recovery boards if you actually need them. I used to think to myself, if I am stuck, maybe sinking or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West little solar panel roof mishap

A second for the Eternabond tape. Good stuff to have on hand. It has been going strong on a couple roof patches I did years ago.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West mounting rotopax between truck cab roof and below bed section?

I have done a few things over the last few years. There wasn’t quite enough room under the bed section with the roof rack on my Tacoma. So I created my own rack that goes across the roof rack in front of the FWC. It worked fine for fuel and water but I have never like having fuel up there like...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West stealth camping / sleeping for 2

I am good with the roll over. It is perfect for stealth sleeping here and there or during weather related times when having the top up seemed more risky. There are also times when bear activity means a campground won’t along tents or popups/soft sides. But if you keep the top down, you are good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Porta Potti Hold Down Kit?

It would only slide out on rough rocking roads but I put a strip of Velcro down and it hasn’t moved since.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to FWC - New to WTW - Would like some input on my FWC set up

I have a Tacoma double cab short bed and feel that Swift is the only way to go ( or the previous Finch model). As much as I would have liked something bigger, it just wouldn’t be safe or hold up well for me. I would either go smaller with the mentioned models or get a bigger truck. Adam

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma MPG w/ FWC?

2006 Tacoma Double Cab here, higher end suspension upgrades, raised up a couple inches and D off-road tires. I have a Swift on it all the time so far. First trip with it, I drove normal on the interstate, 75-80. Drove well but Mileage was 14-15 and I thought, this is terrible. Went out next...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My FWC dealer went bankrupt last week, and I pick it up tomorrow.

I run a company that is connected to the industry so this is just a general statement and not about FWC dealers, but RV camper dealers are not always the best business people. The industry goes up and down. Dealers open and close all the time. Even ones that seem like they should be doing great...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swift camper tie downs - Tacoma Composite bed.

I have a Swift on a 06 short bed. It uses the internal mounts, designed by the Denver FWC dealer a while back and then spread to the overall company.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 65L Isotherm 2-way fridge questions

I have been happy thus far with the fridge. The first couple of trips out , I was playing with the temp a lot. I put my old FridgeCool in it and it seemed to make a big difference. Had to lower the thermostat dial by two numbers. FridgeCool (current name for it from what I found) is just a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you leave to occupy your site?

Thank you for the great replies. I kind f thought about a cone or some kind of road hazard use object. Course then I wouldn't have it while gone but I am probably not traveling that far anyway. I like the sign idea but can't always stake it so some combo might be needed, maybe the sign staked in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you leave to occupy your site?

Tired of getting stuff ripped off when I leave my campsite for a bit with my truck camper. It is easier with a bigger rig since it is easy to carry extra junk. I even have had my level blocks taken, thinking that would be a simple common and cheap thing to leave. Leave only one block? Still...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fiberglass exterior reviews needed

I love my fiberglass siding but mine is still very new so only a few trips out. No problems early on and it looks nice.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any intel on fridges FWC is installing in new models?

I wouldn't do AC on batteries. If in dry areas, you can do evaporative type of cooling to help. Basically just running the fan in front of something wet. Like getting out of pool in the wind. Works pretty well in the hottest times. My pets will often lay down in front of the cool breeze.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Portable Solar vs Roof solar

I used VHB with amsolar panels in 2007. Still going strong all these years later. Don't recall the sealant bit over top so I have never done that. But probably will now just for an added protection. Used the same tape and feet for my solar hot water panel too.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why Can't The FWC Owners Get This Information ?

I have several AMSOLAR panels I installed in early 2007 with the 3M VHB tape. I was a bit skeptical back then but they said it works. 10 years later, they are still there. I used it again on my solar hot water panel that I built. I try to give them a good test each year but they never move. So I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery choice

This made me stop and realize my current batteries are now 10 years old. They perform as good as ever though. The set of AGMs have been on solar year around, staying topped up. And they are used but I always seem to have more than enough power. Just finally replaced the engine battery at 9 years.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone with a FWC in New Mexico?

Thanks Stan. I was hoping to get a order in before then since the backlog will keep growing. But I will use the show as a last effort if I can't see one elsewhere. I had emailed the company off the FWC website about visiting but never get a reply.

Nice site Bseek. Bookmarked for further reading! And yeah, I would add a extra battery so that takes up a little more space.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Efficiency of flat fixed solar vs adjustable portable?

Portables are nice for certain kind of trips but I like having roof panels first and foremost. They are always charging something whether driving, getting fuel or parked at a store. The portables will be more work setting out, moving around, storing them, leaving them out at a risk as others...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fan-tastic Vent Upgrade

I have the upgraded version in my older van RV and do like it. Nice to have all the extra options for speed, direction, rain and remote. I remember that I was annoyed for the first couple of days at being too high or too low but once adjusting it and learning which settings are best, it's been...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone with a FWC in New Mexico?

I am looking to get a order in soon for a FWC Swift. But before I make a long drive to check some models out in person (and avoiding snow storms), I was wondering if anyone in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque or surrounding area might have one I could take a peek at? Swift or Finch would be ideal but...
