    The weight listed on the camper is the weight without any options or gear. Total weight is different for everybody. Go to a scale and get a weight. Water weight is 8 lbs per gallon. I have to put my truck on a diet because of gear and battery bank.

    I just had a personal experience with that. Had to lockup the brakes after someone locked them in front of me on a passing Lane. Had I been overweight , I wouldn't of been able to stop. I almost didn't. I had no where to go.

    Mine has a lever buiilt in to the latch. Allows you to open door from inside. Talk to Bryan at Alaskan. If don't have lever you can probably get parts from Alaskan to modify. I have used mine several times with the top down. You just can't run furnace because vent is blocked.

    I own one 2 years old and I love it. Roughly 1800 pounds dry. If you look at truck camper magazine online there are several interviews on the Alaskan. Mine is the empty nester. They have the base model and you can customize from there. Bryan at Alaskan is great to work with.

    I have the hapijack installed by the factory. It bolts through the front wall of the bed. The rear attaches to the bumper. It has a very low profile when the camper is not on. You also don't have the problem with road salts rusting the tie down brackets especially if you drive in the Northeast.

    I use the ctek ds250+ with the smart charger and 4awg cable from the truck batteries to charge the house batteries at up to 70ah with 2 6v golf cart batteries. I no longer bring generator that will only charge at up to 30ah with the shore power plug.
