RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel 2007 Kestrel Pricing

I bought a 2006 Kestrel last summer, similarly optioned, mint condition, paid $12,500, guy was asking $14k OBO but he was in the middle of nowhere so he came down on price. A 2007 Kestrel just sold in Sacramento, was listed for $11k on this site. I've seen Hawks (same model, 3" taller) go for...

Those tents are Half Dome Village. Different than the Housekeeping units, where you park next to the units

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yosemite Housekeeping Units: Pop-top friendly?

Hey y'all. Was invited to join a group that had some space at the end of May in Yosemite. They have a few housekeeping units reserved, but I'm spoiled and want to sleep in my FWC. I have written an email to the Park Service, as well as waited on hold for 30 minutes before hanging up... Anyone...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Baja and California Trip planning in Colorado!

I copy pasted something I had written before on the forum. I think it's still good advice! One more thing to consider is the fuel protests/riots still going on in developed areas. Plan to carry more fuel than you think you need and fill up whenever you can. I'm in Baja every couple of...

Yeah, I was already down to 20 psi before getting into that situation. Problem wasn't traction because of contact patch, but because so much weight of the chassis was high-sided.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Horror Stories

Ok I'll bite... Some pretty gnarly stories on here. Mine is lacking the risk of death by explosive dismemberment or freezing to death, but stressful in the moment I guess. Couple weeks ago I wanted to rip out to Anza to see the flowers but also wanted to avoid all crowds if possible so I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need Anza trip advice ASAP: Full size truck w/ FWC

Found a great spot in the foothills below the Glorietta Wash. The road in was manageable with two full size rigs, the flowers and wildlife was amazing, and we were miles from anyone else. Highly recommended!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need Anza trip advice ASAP: Full size truck w/ FWC

Fantastic advice ML. There definitely no secret about the flowers in the north side of the park. At this point, I'd rather have a peaceful campsite away from everyone and hunt for the hidden flowers up the smaller canyons. The whole park should be coming alive with blooms and foliage and the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Landscape Photography Thread

Ventured out to Anza Borrego last week to avoid the insane weekend crowds and was not disappointed. I've never seen the desert so alive! This a a 6 shot pano shot on Canon 6D, ISO 200, F11, 1/6sec. Edited lightly in Lightroom to stitch the photos and recover some shadows.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need Anza trip advice ASAP: Full size truck w/ FWC

Hi all! I've ventured into Anza Borrego since I was a little kid and have explored many of the easily accessible spots and some more difficult terrain. I was out last week solo with my F150 and Hawk camper, came in through Oriflame Canyon, camped up the Yaquis wash, and witnessed some amazing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How well do F150s with Eco Boost 3.5 or 2.7 do with pop-up camper?

I moved from a gutless Tacoma V6 w/ Eagle to an F150 with the 3.5 EB and Hawk and I love the combo. Plenty of power even when fully loaded. I have the FX4 w/ 3.31 rear gearing and I get 18-20 without the camper and 14-15 fully loaded with water, provisions, toys, etc.

Why not leave the tailgate on? I like having a 12" wide "porch" to sit on with my Hawk/F150 combo.

8-9 mpg in the Tacoma loaded, 13 without the camper. 33" tires, steel sliders, skid plates, and front and rear bumpers are heavy! The trail limo in all its glory

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West short vs long bed popup truck camper

I had an mildly modified Tacoma 4 door long bed V6 TRD with an Eagle and it was both extremely off road capable and a comfortable size. No way I would have been comfortable with my wife and I in either a short bed or a regular/extended cab. We load our gear and clothes in the back seat and the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Steps

The best unexpected bonus I discovered when I bought my 2016 F150 is the integrated tailgate step. I always leave my tailgate on (makes nice porch seat) when I have my hawk on and the step and hand rail are in the perfect spot to help me or the wife step into the camper. It has a hinged...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Strange pump pressure issue in FWC Hawk

Hey y'all. I was able to unscrew the aerator, and it was in fact the flow regulator (2 GPM) inside the spigot that was plugged with crap. Now I'm back in business!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Strange pump pressure issue in FWC Hawk

Hey y'all. I have a '06 Hawk/Kestrel with hot water heater, outside shower, and water pump. I have great pressure when using the outside shower, but my faucet is just a dribble out of both hot and cold. Pump clicks on without problems but just doesn't seem to be doing the job. Thoughts? -Pete
