RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone vs Airlift airbags

I've had Airlift on a couple of vehicles- in fact have them on 2 right now, an FJCruiser and a 4Runner- but they are the in coil type so a little different that the external bladder types. No issues with them Also have the Firestones on 3 vehicles- a 2020 F150, 1996 F350 and a 2018 Transit...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic Buys Zamp

I dislike SAE plugs because they flip the polarity each time one is used in a circuit. One has to be very careful if using SAE extensions- you can start out with the protected pin as positive but then on the other end it is the non-protected pin and vice versa. The connector Zamp uses is an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone Ride Rite - inflating questions.

A hand pump is difficult to disconnect without losing too much air in my experience. The volume in the airbag is small and a second of "wooshing" severely drops the pressure. While I carry a more traditional off road 12V compressor I like this even better for airbags> I hold the trigger on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Refrigerator

The Engel upright I have does indeed vent the removed heat to the inside. A plus in the winter a minus in the summer. BTW Engels do not come with earplugs. If I'd done more research I'd have found the Engel compressors are noisy compared to others.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camp Like a Pro in the Eastern Sierra

That is the issue in a nutshell- I've noticed a sharp decline in the willingness to "follow the rules". Started gradually some years back but has accelerated rapidly. I've also noticed many of the "hosts" at campgrounds are no longer willing to correct the offenders with people willing to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford BoxLink

I wish they were E-track- would have been a lot more useful. Some E-track accesories will fit the BoxLink mount but they are a very sloppy fit. They really missed the mark with BoxLink- IMHO.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West storing ATC outside in winter

Can't help you with snow- but I would bet the relatively thin aluminum skin could get beat up pretty bad with hail.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West You know you're a geezer when.......................

The Army Coat reminds me- back about 1972 when I was in college I was still a military dependent. So one day I was deathly ill with a cold or flu or something- so I went to the Hospital on Fort Jackson SC. I got to the gate and they would not let me in wearing an "army coat"! I had to take it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Coffee! How Does It Know?

I'm not picky about coffee- at home we use Costco pre-ground bulk stuff and Maxwell House. Sometimes I even mix the 2 in the Mr Coffee. For real blasphemy I even use those Folger's teabag style coffee bags when camping- nice and easy. I mysteriously lost my sense of smell several years ago*...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear brake light

The problem is most "trailer wiring receptacles" have no way to properly operate a third brake light. On my 20 F150 I had to wire from the back, with a separate connecion all the way to a wire under the hood that is a "brake light" activation circuit. I originally did this for my RSi Smart...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West High Desert suggestions for summer camping

Wow I'm impressed with the knowledge and info here! Will save me a lot of time figuring some of this out. In hindsight we've missed some opportunities by being close to something and just didn't know. Case in point- in 2018 we stopped at an overlook in the Death Valley area, used the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West High Desert suggestions for summer camping

Thanks- Great Basin- good suggestion- have not been there yet. I've been to Geyser Pass on a dual sport motorcycle a few years ago- didn't even think about that. Was attending a dual sport event at 3 Step Hideaway near LaSal UT- BTW a great place to stay and great food. North Rim-...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West High Desert suggestions for summer camping

My 14 yr old grandson and I are heading out from SC in about a month- first stop is Cape Canaveral to watch a Saturn V rocket launch. Then we'll be heading west- he wants to go to "deserts"......really?? in the middle of summer?? We hit Death Valley a few years ago when it was 128F- not...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reservation time for WRT campsites?

My grandson (13) and I did WRT last July. We did not camp on it though- were staying at Colorado National Monument about 2 hours away. Made an online reservation to drive the trail- only saw 4 other vehicles the entire day. Interesting fact was we were supposed to pick up our...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford F-150 Hawk or Grandby (non shell) owners

One thing to consider- do you spend much time at high elevation? The power loss with the Ecoboost is very little where the normally aspirated engine drops a good bit.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC wait times now 16 months!

I'll have to disagree- :) too many people out camping already. It has become a real chore to find a place to camp whether campgrounds or dispersed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel Furnace for FWC Eagle

I've used Webasto and Espar heaters in my Transit vans. The fuel pumps can be quite loud and are tough to silence- if that is even possible. The fuel pumps are typically mounted outside near the fuel source- still loud- can't imagine one inside. Personally I am unwilling to trust a $150...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Covid Vaccine -- Have you got yours?

Had both of the Pfizer shots. 1st had absolutely no side effects. 2nd- fatigue and a headache developed later that day. Next day was fine. Day after that headache returned. Now on 3rd day all seems ok. Wife had the new single J&J shot- no symptoms at all. We are both in our 60's

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

Yep- I have a 96 F350 4x4 PSD CC and a 99 Grandby shell with moderate build out. I wouldn't sell the truck alone for anywhere near $15k much less with the Grandby. I get people all the time asking to buy the truck- my standard answer- I'm keeping it until one of us dies!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling the BMS sensor on late model Ford trucks to improve charging.

The ACR, AOPEC brand, in my Panther is a knockoff of the Blue Sea from what I can tell. If I move the Sterling from the Transit to the Panther then the Panther's AOPEC ACR would go in the Transit- the Transit has all AGM, 3 of them- 2 for the vehicle and one for the house stuff- lights, an ARB...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling the BMS sensor on late model Ford trucks to improve charging.

Hi Rich, I happen to have a Sterling 30A B-B charger in my Transit van. It has done a great job for the last 3 years or so. A little cyptic to program though. I'll be selling the Transit and am struggling with leaving it for a purchaser or taking it out and swapping in the ACR from the Panther...
