As for your sides/ last pic's, I removed the trim and installed new butyl tape, put the trim back on and a dab of caulking in each...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How rain proof are "pop-ups?

as for the soft sides, not a problem unless there is a hole. the newer units are made from the zodiac boat material, (hypolon, spelling?) say no more, bullet proof. as for the older canvas if treated properly, like wall tents will last a lifetime. of course up here in bc we do not get the rain...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Unmounting a Hawk sloping driveway

5" casters is what I am using. Have two non swivel at one and two that swivel at the other. I too have the gap and not a problem. Before you rig some pulley system up, give it a try free hand, it rolls very easy.

"It works but I have to take a light bulb out of a socket above the camper." How many camper owners does it take to change a light bulb. ha ha Yup double check your measurement. I have to prop the garage door up with a stick, just 2" to short with out. And never mind with the 2" too...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advice on selling 2010 Hawk

Have you looked at the tent trailers on steroids. Beefed up ones designed for the back roads. Pretty nice looking rigs and have talked to a couple of people that have them and they are happy. The last group I talked to on a fishing trip had four adults in there Baja unit. They come in different...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Unmounting a Hawk sloping driveway

From the pic it looks safe. Remember to keep the cab/over part of the camper a little higher than the rear, 2-4" idea. As for the dolly wheels, I went with solid 5" wheels/casters. They a rated well over what my camper is. Did not like the idea of having to deal with air problems. However you...

Canvas and rubber? One or the other no? The really old units had canvas and the other used the hypolon, spelling? Same material as some rubber boats, ie zodiac. For the later 303 protec all the way, awesome stuff and good for the vehicle as well. As for canvas that one you might have to check...

I have seen some units like that as well not many but the odd one. One unit the guy had the right idea, he utilized the space between the truck and camper and made a slide out drawer.
