RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge fan question

Put the fan between the upper and lower vent openings. Mine sits on top of the top of three black pipes running horizontally I think that my fan came with a thermometer that turns it on at higher temps. I wired a switch on my fan it so that I can turn it off when the refer is not on to prevent...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

Good point Bwht4x4. My brother just got the Dodge 1500 Diesel and gets great gas mileage. Being a Consumer Reports kind of guy, I have always shied away from non Toyotas, but the newer Toyotas don't seem to be quite as reliable as the old ones. New trucks are beyond my price range, so it will be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

I understand your conundrum. I have a Hawk on a 06 Tundra since 2010. I am happy with the reliability and the gas mileage. Unfortunately Toyotas seem to be light on the payloads and I may be a little over. My main concern is emergency handling and I don't know if that changes if you get a bigger...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Leveling blocks?

Had the Lynx. Wasn't satisfied with the way they worked. Wood is cheap but heavy. Got the Camcos and have been very satisfied. I have levels in my cab and usually just drive around the camp site a bit until camper is level. I am surprised how often that works. If there is a handy slanted rock, I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West fresh water petcock drain valve

My 2 cents: Took the plastic petcock apart, drilled out the opening in the part that turns, added some silicone grease, and found a steel roll pin (it has a slit along one side) at the hardware store and added that to the top of the part that turns. Works great!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane problem "pressure"

I have gotten a "bad" tank of propane in the US before. When it burned, it smelled kind of like plastic and the flame deposited soot on my cookware. I think that there was more yellow in the flame than usual. Got a fresh tank of propane from a known source, and the problem went away. Didn't know...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Floor mat, fly rod holder, and Owyhee Canyonlands

I got some indoor/outdoor carpet material that comes on a roll from a home improvement store. Just bought what I needed off the roll and cut it to size. Works fine and wasn't that expensive. To store fly rods during the day between holes, I just open the window in the front of the camper and the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bad Propane

I have a 3-way fridge that I run on propane most of the time. This last trip, the exhaust smelled faintly of plastic. As the trip went on, the refer became less and less able to cool. When I got back, I noticed that the burner had changed color (like the finish had been eaten away) and seemed to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is my Tacoma adequate to pickup up my new Fleet?

I have a Tundra/Fleet. In response to leaving the P's on the front. Before I went to E rated tires when my P's needed to be replaced, I noticed that in braking and turning situations, that the front end seemed to be squishy in response. I assumed that was caused by the sidewalls flexing on the...
