RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ram Truck Not Recommended For Slide In Camper

I'm on the Dodge forums and have never read that but anything's possible. Guy's have got some heavy, large cabovers on there. All the sheetmetals getting thinner and thinner from all the manufacturers. The newest Tundra's tailgates were collapsing with the weight of ramps used to get the owners...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ram Truck Not Recommended For Slide In Camper

A shortbed,4door Dodge carries that warning due to the tail heavy nature of a cabover. A QC Longbed or regular cab like mine doesn't carry that warning. My friend has an 8' Northstar TC800 shortbed model. I would guess that the rear axle load is 2K# over the front. It's all about load...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Revisiting the 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton question....

4ply tires would be a C rated tire. I couldn't imagine anything less than a D on a 1/2 ton. Preferably and E with that camper. I don't see how manufacturers get away with p-rated(passenger) tires on a light truck.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel truck tire pressure

Front axle 4400#,rear 4000# with camper. I run 60 psi all the way around with 285-75-17 Toyo AT's. They wear evenly with stock 8" rims. Unladen I run 50 front and 40 rear.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Sway Bar for 3/4 Ton with Hawk

On highway handling will be improved at the cost of less articulation offroad. The swaybar strives to keep the body and axle in a parallel plane. This makes the ride rougher going into driveways at an angle, uneven street surfaces and dirt roads. I ran a Hellwig standard one for a few years but...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you get? MPG on F350 4x4 Diesel or Gas

My friend has a 1999 F-350 Supercab 4wd 7.3 liter. Auto. Snugtop cab high shell Factory pizza cutters and $7K worth of Banks top system. Mileage has always disappointing him. 16mpg max. I get 16 max out of my '07 2500 Ram. G-56 manual,285's,8' Northstar popup and EFI Live. I lose 3 mpg with the...

Exactly my sentiment. Retaining your tailgate will require you to bend way over to enter the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford F350 6.0L Diesel and TorqShift Automatic

Ford spent over $500 million on warranty repairs on the 6.0. This was according to Petersens 4wd mag. They ended up in court with Navistar and both parties reached an agreement. Buyer beware.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2016 Colorado tires

Yep. A D rated Toyo RT 37-12.50-17 has a substantially thinner more flexible sidewall and a 50 psi max. An E rated Toyo MT,same size has a much sticker stiffer sidewall and a max psi of 65#. I've a friend who insists on running BFG D rated 315's on his '05 qclb w/utilitybed and Callen camper...
